Job Summary
- Long Term Sub anticipated from September 9, 2026 to January 25, 2027 Essential Functions Plan and deliver engaging Family and Consumer Sciences instruction aligned with state standards and district curriculum. Develop and implement lessons, projects, and activities that support students in developing practical life, career, and academic skills. Create and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment, including appropriate supervision and management of classroom and laboratory activities. Assess student learning, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate records of student progress. Establish positive relationships with students and communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administrators. Incorporate hands-on learning experiences that develop skills in areas such as food and nutrition, child development, relationships, personal finance, housing, textiles, and career readiness, as applicable to assigned courses. Maintain and appropriately use classroom, laboratory, equipment, and instructional materials while following established safety procedures. Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate support to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Collaborate with colleagues to support student learning, school initiatives, and curriculum development. Participate in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of the FACS program. Demonstrate professionalism, ethical practices, confidentiality, and effective communication. Perform other duties as assigned by the administration. Other Functions Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds. Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administrators through phone, email, and other appropriate means. Participate in professional development and other appropriate professional activities. Participate in extracurricular activities, student organizations, and school activities as directed. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Required To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree in Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) Education. Valid Minnesota teaching license in Family and Consumer Sciences Education. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and others. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis. Perform other related duties as assigned or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
