Senior Payroll & HR Generalist Position Summary: The Senior Payroll & HR Generalist is responsible for managing and supporting the organization’s payroll operations and a broad range of HR functions.

This position serves as a key resource for employees, managers, and leadership, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, and effective administration of HR programs and processes. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, confidential, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Strong experience with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) and Deltek is required, along with the ability to troubleshoot payroll, HRIS, benefits, and employee-data issues. Essential Responsibilities: Payroll Administration: Manage the end-to-end payroll process for exempt and non-exempt employees, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing.

Process regular, off-cycle, supplemental, and bonus payrolls as needed. Review payroll data for accuracy, including hours worked, overtime, deductions, earnings, taxes, benefits, and other payroll adjustments. Maintain and audit employee payroll records and ensure accurate data flow between HR, payroll, benefits, and timekeeping systems.

Administer payroll processes in ADP Workforce Now (WFN), including employee changes, payroll processing, reporting, and troubleshooting. Utilize Deltek for timekeeping, project-related labor data, payroll support, and/or related HR and accounting processes. Reconcile payroll reports, payroll registers, tax information, and benefit deductions.

Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll questions. Coordinate payroll tax filings and related compliance activities with internal teams and external vendors. Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll requirements. Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation, reconciliations, and audits.

Human Resources: Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and managers regarding HR policies, procedures, payroll, benefits, leave, and general employee questions. Manage employee lifecycle transactions, including new hires, onboarding, transfers, promotions, status changes, and terminations. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in the HRIS.

Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes and ensure required documentation is completed. Support employee relations activities and provide guidance on HR policies and procedures. Assist with performance management, employee documentation, and disciplinary processes as appropriate. Support HR compliance activities, audits, and reporting.

Assist with development, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures. Administration Benefits: Support the administration of medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement benefits. Coordinate benefit enrollments, changes, qualifying life events, and terminations. Partner with benefit brokers, carriers, and vendors to resolve employee issues.

Review and reconcile benefit deductions and eligibility data. Assist with 401(k) administration, including employee inquiries, payroll deductions, plan changes, and vendor coordination. Support benefit and retirement-plan conversions, implementations, and vendor transitions. HRIS, Systems & Reporting: Serve as a key user and subject-matter resource for ADP Workforce Now.

Maintain employee data integrity and ensure HR and payroll information is accurate across systems. Utilize Deltek to support timekeeping, labor reporting, project accounting, or other applicable business processes. Troubleshoot HRIS, payroll, timekeeping, EDI, and vendor data issues. Create and analyze payroll and HR reports for management.

Assist with system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and process improvements. Identify opportunities to automate and streamline payroll and HR processes. Compliance & Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of employee, payroll, compensation, and benefits information. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment and payroll laws.

Support internal and external audits and provide requested documentation. Maintain accurate records in accordance with company policies and applicable legal requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field preferred. 5+ years of progressive payroll and HR experience, preferably in a generalist or HR operations environment. Strong hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now (WFN). Experience required with Deltek. Strong understanding of payroll processing, payroll taxes, deductions, benefits, and reconciliations.

Experience administering employee benefits and 401(k) programs. Strong knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and employment practices. Experience working with HRIS, timekeeping, payroll, and benefits systems. Advanced Excel skills, including sorting, filtering, pivot tables, lookups, and data reconciliation. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict payroll deadlines.
