Porter

Program: Audubon | 284 Audubon Avenue, New York, NY What You’ll Do As a Porter in one of HELP USA’s shelters for people experiencing homelessness, you’ll help provide our residents with a clean and well-maintained living space that feels as much like home as possible during their stay with us. Your daily responsibilities will include cleaning (sleeping areas, bathrooms, offices, windows, floors, grounds, etc.)

, garbage and trash removal, painting, landscaping, snow removal, minor repairs, and other maintenance-related assignments. You’re a great fit for this role if you: Can lift 75 pounds. Can operate small machinery, power tools, and hand tools. Have a High School Diploma or equivalent OR equivalent experience and skills.

It would be helpful (but not required) if you have: Experience in maintenance. Some basic knowledge of wiring, boilers, and plumbing.

Compensation

Actual compensation will not be less than the applicable minimum wage, prevailing wage, or exempt salary requirements under federal, state, and local laws. We Have GREAT BENEFITS! Health insurance (including Medical, Dental, and Vision) and Life Insurance provided by the Union Generous Paid Time Off! 2 weeks of annual vacation accrue from Day 1.

3 weeks of yearly vacation starting at the beginning of the 2nd full year. 12 paid holidays, 3 paid personal days, 7 paid sick days (with unused sick days carrying forward), and a 401 (k) plan with company contributions, even if the employee doesn't contribute.
