Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Automotive Service Technician to join our team. This position is ideal for a well-rounded technician who is confident performing everything from routine maintenance and preventative services to complex heavy-line repairs and advanced electrical diagnostics. The ideal candidate brings 3–5 years of professional automotive repair experience, strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record of completing major mechanical repairs accurately and efficiently.
The ability to work independently, maintain high-quality standards, and approach complex repairs with precision is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Heavy-Line & Major Repairs Perform complex mechanical repairs, including engine replacements, engine rebuilds, and cylinder head replacements. Complete manual and automatic transmission replacements, clutch repairs, and drive train repairs. Rebuild and repair differentials, transfer cases, axles, and other major drive train components.
Diagnose and repair major engine, transmission, cooling system, and mechanical failures. Follow manufacturer repair procedures and specifications to ensure quality and reliability. Advanced Diagnostics & Electrical Perform comprehensive electrical and computerized diagnostics using multimeters, oscilloscopes, advanced scan tools, and other diagnostic equipment.
Diagnose and repair complex electrical concerns, including parasitic draws, wiring harness issues, short circuits, and CAN bus communication faults. Diagnose check-engine lights, drivability concerns, and complex performance issues. Diagnose and repair advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) faults when applicable. Use a systematic diagnostic approach to identify causes accurately and prevent unnecessary parts replacement.
Preventative Maintenance & Routine Service Perform thorough multipoint vehicle inspections to identify safety concerns, maintenance needs, and potential future repairs. Complete preventative maintenance services, including fluid services, brake repairs, suspension work, alignments, and timing belt replacements. Perform routine repairs efficiently while maintaining high standards for workmanship and safety.
Ensure all services and repairs are completed according to manufacturer specifications. Documentation & Shop Operations Accurately document diagnostic procedures, findings, repairs, and parts used within the shop management system. Clearly communicate technical findings and recommended repairs to service advisors. Provide detailed information to support accurate customer estimates and repair recommendations.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow applicable OSHA, environmental, and workplace safety requirements.
Requirements
Qualifications Qualifications & Requirements Experience: 3–5 years of professional automotive repair experience in a shop environment. Heavy-Line Experience: Demonstrated experience performing engine and transmission replacements, rebuilds, and other major mechanical repairs. Diagnostic Skills: Strong understanding of automotive electrical systems, computer-controlled systems, and advanced vehicle diagnostics.
Technical Ability: Ability to diagnose complex mechanical accurately, electrical, and drivability concerns. Tools: Must own a comprehensive set of professional-grade automotive tools; specialty shop equipment will be provided. Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Certifications: ASE certifications are highly preferred, particularly: A1 – Engine Repair A6 – Electrical/Electronic Systems A8 – Engine Performance Ability to stand for extended periods while performing repairs.
Ability to lift frequently and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, kneel, reach, crouch, and work in various positions as required for vehicle repair. Comfortable working in a fast-paced automotive shop environment. Ability to work around vehicle noise, automotive fluids, tools, equipment, and varying temperatures.
