S. Citizenship Required) Position Type: Full-Time (Contract) Position Summary The DHA Standards and Workflow Analyst plays a pivotal role in standardizing, optimizing, and implementing clinical and administrative workflows across the Military Health System (MHS). This position bridges the gap between clinical operations and information technology, ensuring that healthcare delivery processes are safe, efficient, and fully aligned with DHA Procedural Instructions (DHAPIs) and federal healthcare IT standards.

The primary focus of this role is to analyze existing workflows within Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs), design standardized "to-be" clinical pathways and configure these workflows within the MHS GENESIS EHR platform to improve patient care quality and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive time-and-motion studies, gap analyses, and process mapping of current clinical and administrative workflows across various MTFs. Design and document standardized, evidence-based "to-be" workflows that reduce clinical variation and improve patient safety. Ensure all designed workflows comply with DHA policies, Joint Commission standards, and federal regulations (e.

g., HIPAA, clinical quality measures). EHR Integration & Optimization (MHS GENESIS): Collaborate with software engineers and EHR configuration teams to translate clinical workflow requirements into technical specifications within MHS GENESIS (Cerner-based platform). Participate in workflow validation webcasts, local workflow adoption groups, and system testing phases.

Identify system bottlenecks and recommend configuration changes to enhance user experience and reduce clinician burnout. Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management: Facilitate workshops and working groups with clinical champions, nursing leadership, informatics officers, and administrative staff to build consensus on standardized workflows.

Develop change management strategies to support MTFs during transition periods, ensuring high adoption rates of new processes. Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on DHA clinical workflow standards. Data-Driven Performance Improvement: Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the efficiency and safety of implemented workflows.

Utilize EHR audit logs and clinical data analytics to monitor workflow compliance and identify areas for continuous quality improvement. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, or a closely related clinical/technical field.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare workflow analysis, clinical informatics, or healthcare process engineering. Direct experience working with or implementing large-scale Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (experience with Cerner/MHS GENESIS or Epic is highly preferred). Technical Skills: Proficiency in process mapping tools (e.

g., Microsoft Visio). Strong understanding of healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM) and clinical terminologies (SNOMED-CT, LOINC, ICD-10). Soft Skills: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to clinical staff and vice versa. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and consensus-building capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Medical/Health Informatics (MHI) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with an Informatics focus. Active clinical license (e.g., Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), or Pharmacist). Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt).

Prior experience working within the Department of Defense (DoD) healthcare system, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), or the Defense Health Agency (DHA)
