Software Engineer
Job description
The Software Engineer serves as a key technical leader within the church’s Technology Team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining custom software solutions that support ministry operations, digital engagement, and data integration across the church’s systems. This role blends technical excellence with a heart for ministry to help our staff, volunteers, and congregants connect and grow through well-crafted digital tools.

What You Will Be Doing Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance software systems and APIs. Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Architect and implement complex backend services and integrations with external systems. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code that aligns with team coding standards. Participate in system design discussions, evaluating trade-offs between performance, scalability, and maintainability. Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance in production environments.
Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and DevOps automation initiatives. Stay current with emerging technologies and propose ways to adopt them effectively. Collaborate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, providing technical insight during planning and retrospectives.
What We Are Looking For
Familiarity ASP.NET Framework as well as various design patterns (e.g. MVC, Webforms). Extensive knowledge of development and deployment with Azure. Working knowledge of Java Script and frameworks such as Vue or React. Have extensive experience with Entity Framework. Knowledge of REST, AJAX & JSON. Strong SQL skills and knowledge of SQL Server Management Studio.
Strong HTML, CSS design skills and best practices. Be a mentor and coach for junior members of the team helping them to learn and grow. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with diverse functional teams. Ability to work independently and in a team environment to develop and implement design. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Strong ability to troubleshoot software problems. Ability to identify and solve problems creatively and effectively. Excellent team skills. Our Requirements Bachelor’s degree in computer science field or strong related experience. 3-5 years’ experience coding in C#. Engaged member of Southeast Christian Church, or willing to become one.
