Automotive Diagnostic and Road Test Specialist

Automotive Diagnostic & Road Test Specialist We are looking for an experienced automotive dealership professional to join our service team. This position is ideal for someone with diagnostic skills and the ability to effectively communicate with both technicians and customers.

Responsibilities

• Perform light vehicle scanning and basic diagnostic evaluations to assist in verifying customer concerns.
• Conduct road tests to duplicate and verify vehicle complaints.
• Road test vehicles with customers to identify, confirm, and explain vehicle concerns.
• Clearly communicate whether vehicle operation is normal or requires further diagnosis or repair.
• Work closely with Service Advisors and Technicians to ensure accurate documentation of customer concerns.
• Assist in reducing unnecessary repairs by accurately identifying normal vehicle characteristics versus actual faults.
• Provide professional, courteous customer interaction while building confidence in the dealership's diagnosis and repair process.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an automotive dealership environment is required.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle systems and diagnostic procedures.
• Ability to perform basic scan tool operations and interpret results.
• Excellent road test and vehicle evaluation skills.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• ASE certification or previous technician experience is a plus but not required. This role is critical in ensuring accurate diagnosis, improving first-time repair quality, and providing customers with confidence that their concerns have been properly evaluated.
