Actuary Longevity Product & Actuarial, Institutional Solutions Full-Time, Springfield or Boston The Opportunity The Actuary will be an integral member of the Longevity Product and Actuarial team within Institutional Solutions, utilizing actuarial and analytical expertise to support both the UK Longevity Reinsurance and Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) businesses.
This role offers the opportunity to perform impactful actuarial work across mortality experience analysis, profitability monitoring, in-force business management, and business analytics, helping to inform decisions that support the long-term success of these growing businesses. This highly collaborative role partners across actuarial, finance, and risk management functions and provides meaningful exposure to business leadership.
The successful candidate will have significant ownership over experience analysis processes and reporting, leveraging data-driven insights to identify emerging trends, evaluate business performance, and support strategic decision-making. This position is well suited for an individual who enjoys combining technical actuarial expertise with broader business problem solving and influencing outcomes through actionable insights.
The Team The Longevity Product and Actuarial team works collaboratively with the Pension Risk Transfer market leader, PRT pricing team, and other key stakeholders to achieve profitable growth and provide in-force and new business insights, while ensuring adherence to all regulatory, compliance and corporate governance policies.
Team strengths include collaboration, execution mindset, influence, business acumen, and technical skills. Team members work closely with Corporate Actuarial, Enterprise Risk Management, and business leadership to provide actionable insights, manage risk, and support the long-term success of these businesses. The Impact Lead case-specific mortality experience studies to assess emerging mortality trends and support assumption setting for prospective deals for both the UK Longevity Reinsurance and Pension Risk Transfer businesses Monitor and evaluate UK Longevity in-force business performance through profitability analysis, experience reporting, and management dashboards, generating actionable insights to support business decision-making Support the continued development and enhancement of in-force management capabilities, including expansion of reporting and analytical frameworks to the US PRT business Maintain and enhance the UK Longevity Reinsurance Pricing Model Support model and assumption governance activities, including documentation, controls, & validation Partner with Finance, Enterprise Risk Management, and business leaders to evaluate business performance, communicate actuarial insights, and support strategic initiatives The Minimum Qualifications (Required) Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or related field ASA designation 5+ years of actuarial experience including developing, maintaining, or enhancing actuarial models and analytical tools The Ideal Qualifications (Preferred) FSA designation Experience with Pension Risk Transfer, longevity reinsurance, annuities, or retirement products Experience performing mortality experience studies, assumption development, or assumption governance activities Experience supporting model governance, validation, controls, or documentation Proficiency in R, VBA, Power BI, or similar analytical and reporting tools Experience developing dashboards, visualizations, or management reporting to communicate business performance and actionable insights Experience presenting analytical findings and recommendations to business leaders and non-technical stakeholders What You Can Expect at Mass.
