Department Lead

We have Optical Laboratories in Louisville, KY and Fort Lauderdale, FL and manage many optical stores across the US and Puerto Rico. The Finish Department Lead is responsible for providing guidance to production, trainees, and current employees.

Leads must begin first my demonstrating, then by observing and finally by monitoring the work of the departmental employees. This person is considered to be the next in charge following the supervisor and will assist co-workers in reaching individual and company goals. You must have at least 1 year of optical manufacturing experience with above average performance.

Must have thorough knowledge and understanding of every aspect of the department. Must possess leadership qualities such as good communication skills, enthusiasm and company loyalty. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, from 4:30pm to 1:00am. The pay for this position will be based off relevant experience.

Essential Functions

Be familiar and maintain knowledge of lab breakage codes Write up breakage tickets and enter breakage as necessary including entering back into the system if applicable. Maintains employee and customer confidence and protects operations by following HIPPA and company policies and ensuring that information is kept confidential.

Check in with the Supervisor or Manager at the beginning of the shift and actively participate in team meetings, providing input on breakage, workflow, and production issues. Monitor workflow throughout the department to ensure steady production and prevent bottlenecks. Assign and direct operators to appropriate workstations to maintain efficient workflow, as discussed with supervisor.

Communicate and document employee questions or concerns to supervisor or manager for follow up. Train and promote teamwork among employees, as well as provide employees, as well as provide employees with regular feedback to the supervisor and manager as it relates to their performance, progress and skills. Must be able to ensure smooth workflow, monitor progress of the department and resolve routine workflow problems.

Work Environment This position is located in our Optical Laboratory which operates in a production/manufacturing type setting. The temperature can sometimes be warm, and the noise level can be somewhat loud. This position also requires working and leading a diverse group of other co-workers.
