School Based Support Specialist We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate School Based Support Specialist to join our team at Porter-Starke Knox. As a School Based Support Specialist, you will work closely with elementary, middle, or high school-aged children and their families to provide interventions, referrals, and resources to support their overall well-being.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a School Based Support Specialist, you will provide case management assessments, skills training, and crisis interventions as needed. You will also provide resources and referrals to families in need and consult with school personnel on challenging situations and issues. Your expertise will help students and their families navigate complex mental health and substance abuse issues, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive.

401k w/ 20% company matching 11 paid holidays Tuition assistance up to $5250/year Loan assistance up to $200/month Competitive wages Generous PTO Employee discount at the local YMCA HSA/FSA accounts Medical, dental, and vision insurance Employee referral program Casual Fridays Company paid life insurance policy Company paid long term disability Optional insurances (short term disability) Employee recognition events Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Free yearly health screenings JOB DUTIES: Provide interventions to students experiencing challenges that interrupt their ability to learn while in school Provide resources and referrals to families in need Provide consultation to school personnel on challenging situations and issues Conduct case management assessments and facilitate access to treatment as needed Provide documentation of interventions per department standards Participate in regular peer consultation to discuss cases, reflect on care provided, and offer suggestions to other school-based clinicians Demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude towards school personnel and students Attend staffing, clinical supervision, in-services, and staff meetings CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrate knowledge in individual, group, family, and classroom dynamics Developmental theory, clinical symptoms, and interventions relevant in the school setting Accessing and coordinating appropriate referrals, services, and entitlements for students Knowledge of current policies and procedures of the agency, school system, and professional standards Trauma-Informed Care Must know screening and assessment for risk of harm to self and others Knowledge of signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders Perform other duties as assigned COMPETENCIES: Assessing child and adolescent behavior, providing crisis intervention as needed Establishing rapport with students, their families, and school personnel Individual and group interventions Providing relevant information to school personnel to assist them in managing challenging situations and students Time management and productive work habits Documenting interventions Advocating for client's needs Group facilitation Typing and basic computer usage EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related Human Services field is required Valid Indiana Driver's License, auto insurance, and reliable transportation Related experience equal to or greater than 6 months Experience in crisis intervention and working with children is preferred APPLY NOW: If you are passionate about supporting the well-being of children and families, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding opportunity.
