Substance Abuse Professional (Charlotte, NC)

What We Offer
Flexible Schedule Hybrid Working Conditions The Substance Abuse Professional provides substance use support and services to individuals receiving Community Support Team (CST) services. The position works as part of the CST team to help individuals improve their recovery, stability, independence, and overall well-being.
Primary Responsibilities Provide substance use assessments and support within the scope of credentials. Provide substance use education and counseling as authorized. Assist clients with recovery and relapse prevention. Develop and support person-centered goals. Participate in CST team meetings and case reviews. Coordinate services with other healthcare and community providers.
Provide referrals to substance use and community resources. Assist with crisis intervention and safety planning. Identify and report safety concerns. Support clients with connecting to treatment and recovery resources. Maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality. Provide trauma-informed and person-centered services.
Document all services accurately and timely. Verify authorizations before providing billable services. Use the correct service codes and billing procedures. Participate in documentation and quality assurance reviews. Maintain required licenses, certifications, and continuing education. Follow all CTSF policies and applicable state and federal requirements.
Documentation Responsibilities The Substance Abuse Professional is responsible for completing: Progress notes Assessments Treatment plan documentation Service plan updates Crisis documentation Referral and care coordination documentation Other required client records All documentation must accurately support the services provided.
Client Safety The Substance Abuse Professional must: Follow client safety and crisis plans. Report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation. Report significant safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Contact emergency services when there is an immediate danger to life or safety. Follow CTSF incident reporting procedures.
Qualifications
Appropriate education and substance abuse credential/licensure required for assigned services. Experience working with individuals with substance use or behavioral health needs preferred. Knowledge of recovery and substance use treatment resources. Strong communication and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to provide services in community-based settings. Professional Expectations The Substance Abuse Professional is expected to: Maintain confidentiality. Maintain professional boundaries. Provide respectful, person-centered services. Complete documentation on time. Follow CTSF policies and procedures. Maintain required credentials.
Communicate effectively with the CST team. Promote client recovery, independence, and community integration.
