Full Stack Developer - TS/SCI and CI poly Clearance (Hybrid)

API/Java/Python Developer Hybrid – Arlington, VA U.S. Citizenship and TS/SCI and CI poly required @Orchard is retained by a top geospatial technology company in their search for an API/Java/Python Developer to work in their Intel sector advancing the national security mission through cutting edge technology. The API/Java/Python Developer is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of software applications and APIs using Java and Python programming languages. This role often involves a combination of backend development, API integration, and sometimes includes aspects of cloud-based solutions. Hybrid role – 80% remote; 20% onsite in Arlington, VA.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development: Design, develop, test, and deploy robust and scalable applications and APIs using Java and Python. This includes writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code. API Design and Integration: Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices, ensuring secure and efficient communication between different systems and applications.

This also involves integrating third-party APIs and services. Database Management: Work with various database systems (e.g., SQL and NoSQL databases like PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL) for data storage and retrieval. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, product managers, and QA teams, to define requirements, integrate components, and ensure seamless functionality.

Performance Optimization and Security: Optimize code and system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure adherence to security best practices in data handling and API authentication. Cloud Integration (Optional): If applicable, implement and integrate cloud services and APIs (e.g., AWS, Azure) for cloud-native solutions and deployments.

Maintenance and Support: Provide ongoing support, maintenance, and enhancements for existing applications and APIs. Skills & Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years of experience for mid-level and 8+ years for senior
• Security Clearance: TS/SCI with CI Poly and U.S. Citizenship is required
• Proficiency in Java and/or Python programming languages and associated frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, Flask, Django).
• Strong understanding of API architectural styles (e.g., REST, GraphQL, SOAP) and experience with API development tools (e.g., Postman, Swagger UI).
• Familiarity with database systems (SQL and/or NoSQL).
• Experience with version control systems like Git.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). For pay transparency the range of base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $116,000.00 - $154,000.00 - $169,400.00 annually, based on experience.
