RN Pre-Op or Post-Op PRN

Job Title: PRN Preop and PACU Registered Nurse (RN) or LVN Location: Waxahachie Surgery Center Department: Preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Employment Type: PRN/independent contractor Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled PRN Preop and PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients before and after surgical procedures, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

Preoperative Care: Conduct thorough patient assessments prior to surgery. Review patient history and verify surgical consent. Administer preoperative medications and IVs as necessary. Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families. Post-Anesthesia Care: Monitor patients' vital signs and recovery progress in the PACU.

Manage postoperative pain and administer medications as prescribed. Assess for any complications and take appropriate action. Educate patients and their families on postoperative care instructions. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.

Document all care provided accurately and promptly.

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in Texas BLS and ACLS certification required. Excellent critical thinking and assessment skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

Preferred Qualifications

BSN preferred. Previous experience in an outpatient surgical setting. Schedule: PRN position; must be available to work variable 10-12 shifts Tuesdays and Thursdays Compensation: Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience.
