Diesel Technician

Job Summary

Completes troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop independently while coaching and developing less experienced technicians We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in (Albuquerque, NM). Will make an impact in the following ways: Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products Maintain own tools In order to be successful in this role you will need the following: Completes complex internal engine repairs Performs complex unassisted engine overhauls Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation Brake Systems: Brake inspections, adjustments, repairs, caliper replacement, pads/shoes, rotors/drums, and air brake components.

Suspension: Inspect and repair springs, shocks, bushings, torque rods, and suspension components. Steering: Diagnose and repair steering components, tie rods, drag links, steering boxes, and related hardware. Wheel Ends: Hub, bearing, seal, wheel, and lug-related repairs and inspections. Axles & Driveline: Diagnose and repair axle components, U-joints, driveshafts, and related driveline components.

Chassis Electrical: Diagnose wiring, lighting, sensors, ABS, and other chassis electrical systems. Frame & Structural: Inspect and repair chassis/frame components and mounting hardware. Preventive Maintenance: Perform chassis inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and required maintenance. Diagnostics: Troubleshoot chassis-related faults and determine necessary repairs and parts.

Documentation: Complete accurate repair documentation, parts identification, and safety inspections.

• A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
• Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older Must Have:
• A current valid license is required for this role
• Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience
• This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
• This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing. Education, Licenses, Certifications: Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred) Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution Locally valid driving permit (Preferred) This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. Experience: Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred) Compensation and Benefits Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
