Sheet Metal Technician Level 1

Description Description Work includes all types of sheet metal/HVAC. May run sheet metal jobs as a Superintendent. Individuals should be able to read and understand blueprints, communicate effectively with all other people on the project, including our subcontractors, and represent TP Mechanical Contractors in a professional manner.

Should be able to accept directions and/or lead and delegate the work if necessary. Focus on safety and safety practices first and foremost at all task inceptions.

Responsibilities

Coordinate, install and/or repair sheet metal and/or duct systems. Assists with the assembly and installation of HVAC equipment as necessary. Install hangars or supports for HVAC systems. Perform field fabrication of sheet metal and/or duct systems and set up the specific task or project schedule. Make adjustments to work sequences to meet construction schedules, using own knowledge of equipment and lowerlevel personnel capacities.

Manage materials to ensure timely completion of the work scheduled. Ensure optimal material consumption. Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to contract and specification. Reads blueprints and interprets specifications. Correct punch-list items and make distribution as required. Attend, as required, all jobsite and office meetings related to assigned projects.

Keeps equipment in good working order and insures proper and timely maintenance is performed on equipment. Ensure the needs of general contractors, owners, and other customers as well as entrusted employees are met. Keep the superintendent or project manager aware of all issues affecting production and schedule. Serve as a coach and mentor to lower echelon to help them develop and improve their skills and increase their technical knowledge.

Strengthen skills to encourage improvement in other sheet metal workers. Emphasize commitment to continually improve company procedures and processes int eh be interests of the company. Organizes work and utilizes preplanning such as the four weeks look ahead schedule. All other duties as assigned.
