Assistant Manager

Pete’s Deli Assistant Manager The Deli Assistant Manager supports the Deli Manager in daily operations and helps lead a team that delivers fresh food, friendly service, and a clean, organized deli. This position leads by example and oversees deli operations when the Deli Manager is unavailable.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare pizza, sandwiches, and other deli products according to Pete’s recipes and quality standards. Maintain food availability in the Grab-N-Go and hot case while adjusting production to customer demand and minimizing waste. Assign daily tasks, coach employees, and follow up to ensure work is completed correctly and on time.

Assist with training new employees on food preparation, customer service, cleaning, and food safety procedures. Follow food safety standards, including proper cooking and holding temperatures, labeling, date rotation, and sanitation. Ensure required Crunchtime offerings, photos, and kitchen walks are completed accurately and on time.

Assist with inventory counts, ordering, receiving deliveries, and recording waste. Support scheduling and staffing needs while following approved labor hours. Handle customer concerns professionally and communicate operational issues to the Deli Manager or District Manager. Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized kitchen and complete opening and closing duties.

Qualifications

Previous food service or retail experience preferred; leadership experience is a plus. Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Dependable attendance and availability to work assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Ability to perform essential duties, including standing for extended periods, stocking products, cleaning, and safely operating kitchen equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation. Reports To: Deli Manager
