EDM Operator - Galway

Join the Sy. Bridge Team – We’re Hiring! Job Title: EDM Operator Location: Galway, Ireland Department: Manufacturing / Tooling Employment Type: Full-Time Position Summary: Sy. Bridge Technologies is seeking an experienced EDM Operator to join our tooling team in Galway. The EDM Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment to manufacture high-precision mould and tooling components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.

The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in EDM machining within a precision engineering, mould making, or toolmaking environment, with a strong focus on accuracy, quality, and attention to detail. This is an onsite role.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate EDM equipment to manufacture precision mould and tooling components. Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Set machine parameters, electrodes, work offsets, and machining conditions as required. Manufacture components to specified dimensions, tolerances, and surface finish requirements.

Inspect completed components using precision measuring equipment, including vernier callipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment. Measure and verify components in millimetres (mm) and micrometres (µm) as required. Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality.

Identify and troubleshoot machining and quality issues. Carry out routine machine cleaning, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting. Work closely with Toolmakers, CNC Machinists, Engineers, and other members of the manufacturing team. Maintain accurate production and inspection records. Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies.

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment. Support continuous improvement activities across the Toolroom and manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

& Experience Experience working with plastic injection moulds, tooling, complex components, and tight tolerances within a high-precision manufacturing environment. Experience with CNC machining or other precision machining processes. Recognised apprenticeship or technical qualification in Toolmaking, Engineering, Machining, or a related discipline is desirable.

Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality, with a practical, hands-on approach to problem solving. Reliable and able to work to production schedules, both independently and as part of a team. Good communication skills and willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
