We are seeking an onsite Nuclear Quality Assurance Engineer to join our DOE & Renewable Energy BU at our Spring, Texas facility. This role implements, maintains and improves the company’s Nuclear Quality Assurance Program, ensuring nuclear products, services and suppliers meet applicable regulatory, Code and customer requirements.

W-Industries is pursuing ASME Section III certification, and this engineer will take a direct part in our certification survey and ongoing Code work. The successful candidate has at least three years of nuclear industry experience applying ASME NQA-1 and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B , is a qualified auditor under an NQA-1 program and has a working knowledge of ASME Section III and 10 CFR Part 21 .

Candidates must provide records of their auditor training and certification before an interview. NQA-1 Lead Auditor certification is preferred, and Internal Auditors will be supported in progressing to Lead Auditor.

Requirements

Interpret and apply nuclear quality requirements, including ASME Section III , ASME NQA-1, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and 10 CFR Part 21 , together with ISO 9001 and ISO 19443 where applicable. Implement and maintain the Nuclear Quality Assurance Program across supply chain, engineering, procurement, manufacturing and testing.

Serve as a quality interface with customers and NUPIC audit teams, ASME, our Authorized Inspection Agency (AIA) and its Authorized Nuclear Inspectors (ANI/ANIS), and NRC vendor inspections. Support ASME certification surveys and maintenance of ASME certificates. Plan and perform internal and supplier audits as a qualified NQA-1 auditor, leading audits when certified as Lead Auditor, and host customer audits.

Review nonconformance reports and corrective actions and evaluate deviations for 10 CFR Part 21 applicability. Support preparation and review of ASME Code Data Report Forms for Section III items. Develop receiving, in-process and final inspection requirements, including inspection and test plans with ANI hold and witness points Support supplier qualification and the approved supplier list, including commercial grade dedication and oversight of NDE and other special-process suppliers.

Support control of measuring and test equipment, prevention of counterfeit, fraudulent and suspect items (CFSI), and verification of welder and NDE personnel qualifications. Develop, control and maintain QA procedures, work instructions and quality records in accordance with retention requirements. Provide technical support to inspection personnel, and meet with customers, suppliers and internal teams to resolve quality problems.

Analyze quality data and prepare trend charts to drive corrective action and continuous improvement.

Required Skills

& Competencies Qualified auditor under an NQA-1 nuclear quality assurance program , with records of auditor training and certification (required before interview). Participated in at least one NQA-1 audit. Hands-on nonconformance, corrective action and 10 CFR Part 21 evaluation experience. Working knowledge of ASME Section III quality requirements.

Ability to derive and analyze data and develop trend charts. Detail oriented with strong organizational and project management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with ERP systems and standard quality tools.

Preferred Skills

& Competencies NQA-1 Lead Auditor certification and experience leading audits. ASME Section III certification survey experience. Experience at an ASME Section III manufacturer or fabricator. Experience with AP1000, SMR/MMR or advanced reactor startups, national laboratories, first-of-a-kind (FOAK) hardware, rapid program development, or hybrid nuclear/DOE environments.

Required Experience & Education 3+ years in the nuclear industry in a quality assurance or quality control role, applying ASME NQA-1 and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B. BS Degree in Engineering or a related technical field. (Preferred) Navy Nuclear Power Program or equivalent military nuclear training considered. ASQ CQA or CQE, or AWS CWI, are a plus.

Quality, Safety and Physical Requirements Supports a safety conscious work environment; raises quality and safety concerns without fear of retaliation and exercises stop-work authority when needed. Maintains auditor independence; does not audit work for which they have direct responsibility. Works on the fabrication shop floor wearing required PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, safety-toe footwear), including walking the floor and accessing fabricated assemblies for inspection.

Travels occasionally for supplier audits and customer meetings.
