Position Details The Parts Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation and movement of parts, supplies, materials, equipment, and other items between company facilities, vendors, customers, and other designated locations.
This position is responsible for more than the operation of a company vehicle and is expected to actively participate in the entire pickup and delivery process, including retrieving, loading, securing, transporting, unloading, moving, staging, and properly placing materials at their destination. The Parts Driver supports production and other company operations by ensuring that departments receive the parts, materials, supplies, and equipment necessary to maintain workflow.
When pickup or delivery duties are not being performed, the employee is expected to assist other departments with material movement, warehouse/stockroom activities, staging, organization, and other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar driving, delivery, logistics, or material-handling role and demonstrate a strong focus on safety, accuracy, reliability, teamwork, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
& Duties Safely operate company vehicles to transport parts, supplies, tools, equipment, and other materials between company facilities, vendors, customers, and other designated locations. Take responsibility for the entire pickup and delivery process, including retrieving materials, loading the vehicle, properly securing the load, transporting the materials, unloading the vehicle, and moving or placing materials at the designated destination.
Actively participate in loading and unloading activities. The Parts Driver is expected to assist with the physical handling of materials and is not limited to operating the vehicle while other employees perform loading or unloading duties. Load, unload, move, stage, and organize materials using appropriate material-handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, dollies, straps, and other equipment for which the employee is trained and authorized.
Properly secure all materials and equipment prior to transportation and ensure items are handled in a manner that prevents damage to the materials, vehicle, facilities, or surrounding property. Deliver materials to the appropriate department, work area, stockroom, warehouse, or other designated location and assist with moving and positioning the materials as directed.
Assist with moving incoming materials, equipment, parts, and supplies into company buildings and designated storage or work areas. Verify the accuracy and condition of materials being picked up or delivered and promptly report discrepancies, shortages, damage, or other issues. Assist Stockroom/Warehouse and other departments with loading, unloading, moving, staging, organizing, and relocating parts, materials, supplies, equipment, and other items as needed.
When not performing pickup or delivery duties, actively assist other departments as assigned. Such duties may include material movement, stockroom/warehouse support, staging parts and materials, organizing work areas, loading and unloading, facility support, housekeeping, and other general operational duties consistent with the position.
Maintain daily logs, delivery records, mileage records, and other required documentation accurately and timely. Inspect assigned vehicles before and after operation and promptly report maintenance, mechanical, safety, or other concerns. Maintain assigned vehicles, trailers, and material-handling equipment in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
Follow all company safety policies and procedures, applicable traffic laws, and DOT regulations, as applicable. Use proper lifting techniques and follow all requirements for the safe operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment. Provide professional and responsive service to internal departments, vendors, customers, and other business partners and represent Everglades Boats in a professional manner.
Work independently while maintaining awareness of changing priorities and production needs and adjust work activities as necessary to support the business. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Required / Preferred Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience in a similar driver, delivery, logistics, warehouse, or material-handling role required; experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or marine environment preferred. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) highly preferred; candidates with a CDL will receive priority consideration.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to meet company insurance requirements. Forklift certification preferred. Candidates without certification must be able to successfully obtain certification shortly after hire. Ability to safely lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver materials weighing up to 50 pounds, or the applicable weight requirement for the position.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices. Ability to work independently, follow schedules, prioritize multiple tasks, and respond to changing operational needs. Basic recordkeeping and communication skills. Familiarity with material-handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, preferred.
Physical & Working Conditions Ability to routinely lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 pounds or greater when required by the job. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, reach overhead, and perform other physical activities associated with loading, unloading, and moving materials.
Ability to safely enter and exit trucks and other vehicles and work around loading docks, trailers, production areas, stockrooms, warehouses, and other industrial environments. Work may be performed indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, and other manufacturing-related conditions.
Ability to operate or work around forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, trailers, trucks, and other material-handling equipment. Ability to work overtime, extended shifts, and weekend shifts as needed to meet business and production requirements. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements may include eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, protective suits, dust masks, respirators, and other PPE as required by the work environment.
Employees must be able to work a 10-hour shift or more in one workday, including planned and unplanned overtime, as business needs require. Must be able to work cautiously, efficiently, and safely in potentially hazardous conditions.
