Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) Location: Blue Ash, OH 45236 | Full-Time Family Dentistry of Blue Ash is looking for an experienced, credentialed EFDA to serve as a chairside partner to our doctors. The ideal candidate is someone who brings clinical precision, professional polish, and the kind of patient-centered instincts that come from genuine experience.

Expanded Function & Clinical Responsibilities Perform the full scope of EFDA authorized duties under Ohio state dental law, including placement and finishing of restorations, sealant application, and other permitted expanded functions, with precision and consistency Serve as chairside partner to our doctors across a full range of procedures, including family, cosmetic, and implant dentistry Keep patient flow running efficiently so that patients are seen on time Capture high-quality digital X-rays and intraoral photos in compliance with Ohio state regulations Take precise impressions Review charts, document treatment data during exams, and transcribe clinical notes accurately and thoroughly Document health histories and medications, and help patients understand how their overall health connects to their oral care Prepare operatories, instruments, and materials for every procedure Maintain instrument sterilization and infection control protocols in full compliance with OSHA standards Manage dental supply inventory and coordinate with the team on ordering and case preparation Patient Education & Engagement Help patients feel informed, comfortable, and confident about their treatment plans Provide post-treatment and post-operative care instructions with clarity and compassion Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in full compliance with HIPAA Team Contribution Collaborate across the multi-doctor team and contribute wherever needed with a professional and positive attitude Use dental practice management software daily for documentation, scheduling support, and patient records What Makes You a Great Fit Ohio EFDA certification required; fully authorized to perform expanded functions under Ohio state dental law Current Ohio RDA licensure required, including completion of an Ohio-approved radiation safety and radiography course Current CPR certification required Significant hands-on EFDA experience required Minimum 2 years of general dentistry experience strongly preferred; EFDA-specific experience given significant weight Meticulous attention to detail in clinical work, documentation, and operatory preparation Calm, confident chairside manner that reflects professionalism Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Self-managing and proactive Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment without sacrificing quality or patient experience Positive, collaborative team player who elevates the people and culture around them What We Offer $2,000 sign on bonus for qualified candidates Competitive compensation commensurate with EFDA credentials and experience level Medical, dental, and vision benefits Paid time off and paid holidays 401(k) retirement plan Continuing education support to keep your credentials and clinical skills at the leading edge Broad clinical exposure across a true full-service dental practice with genuine depth and variety A deeply rooted practice with a loyal patient base built over more than five decades A state of the art practice with advanced technology and proven methods of care A professional, supportive team culture If you are an experienced, credentialed EFDA ready to bring your best work to a practice that puts patient comfort first, we'd love to hear from you.
