Froid des Mascareignes (FDM) is a cold-storage company exclusively dedicated to seafood product storage which also offers packing and export services. The cluster represents IBL’s investments in the vertically integrated Mauritian tuna value chain. Being a considerable source of revenue for the group, as well as an important forex earner for the country, IBL Seafood will soon be converting its effluent into energy through Energie des Mascareignes, making its tuna operations the island’s first zero-waste industry from the fish caught to the final co-products, thus contributing to IBL’s sustainability objectives.

Marine Biotechnology Products Côte d’Ivoire is part of the Cluster’s international expansion. Job Purpose The Welder/Fitter is responsible for welding, fabrication, fitting, and maintenance of cold storage facilities, warehouse equipment, storage structures, and handling equipment. The role supports the reliability and safety of operations through preventive and corrective maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out basic welding, grinding, and cutting tasks under supervision. Assist in repairing gates, frames, platforms, bins and light metallic parts. Learn to interpret sketches and receive verbal instructions. Support preventive inspection routines of metallic structures. Help clean and maintain infrastructure parts showing early wear or corrosion.

Learn to identify and report infrastructure anomalies. Use tools responsibly and maintain good workshop hygiene. Organize consumables under guidance. Learn safe practices around gas bottles, grinders, and heat sources. Avoid contaminating surfaces during or after repair works. Provide manual assistance to electricians, mechanics, and senior welders.

Participate in shutdowns and installation tasks as a supporting hand. Assist in recording time spent and materials used. Be available to support during urgent breakdowns or shifts. Respond to simple assistance requests during off-hours if assigned. Assist in minor conveyor belt splicing or basic lathe setup as trainee.

Qualifications

Experience National Trade Certificate (NTC Level 3) or equivalent in Welding, Fabrication, Mechanical Fitting, or Metal Works. At least 3 years’ experience in the relevant field Having a valid motorcycle driving licence Willing to work odd hours and under pressure Passionate, energic, team player, honest and discipline.
