About the Role

The Machine Operator II) is responsible for setting up and operating automated cutting equipment, spreading and preparing materials for production, and performing manual cutting operations as required. This position ensures work orders are completed accurately, materials are utilized efficiently, and quality standards are maintained throughout the cutting process.

The operator works closely with Production, Planning, Engineering, and other department personnel to support production schedules in a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate automated cutting equipment safely and efficiently. Spread fabric and other materials according to work order specifications and cutting requirements. Prepare cutting tables, materials, patterns, and documentation for production runs. Verify material type, quantity, and specifications prior to cutting.

Monitor cutting operations to ensure quality, accuracy, and productivity standards are met. Perform manual cutting operations when required. Inspect cut components for dimensional accuracy and overall quality. Label, organize, and stage cut materials for downstream production processes. Assist in maximizing material utilization and reducing waste.

Maintain production records and required documentation. Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance. Identify and report equipment, material, or quality issues to supervision. Assist with machine adjustments, setup changes, and troubleshooting activities. Support inventory counts and material audits as required.

Follow all company safety, quality, and operational procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S standards. Cross-train in other cutting department functions as needed. Work collaboratively with Production, Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to meet departmental goals.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred. Minimum one (1) year of manufacturing, production, machine operation, or cutting experience preferred. Experience operating automated cutting equipment preferred. Ability to spread fabric and prepare materials accurately for production. Ability to perform manual cutting using hand tools and cutting equipment when necessary.

Ability to read and interpret work orders, specifications, patterns, and production documents. Basic computer skills and data entry experience. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Basic math skills, including measurements and calculations. Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment and production issues.

Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform physical activities including standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motion throughout the workday.
