The job details are as follows: The Collective Collection Analytics team is looking for a Technical Manager to lead a growing team of full stack software engineers. This is a full-time people leadership role focused on building and motivating a high-performing team, partnering with Product Managers to prioritize work and shape the roadmap, and driving reliable delivery in a modern cloud-native environment. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with enough technical depth to guide architecture and design decisions, earn the team's trust, and hold a high bar for quality, while spending their time on people, priorities, and outcomes rather than writing code. The role champions responsible use of AI-assisted engineering to accelerate delivery across the team.
Responsibilities
People leadership Lead 2 teams of full stack developers (Java and JavaScript backend, React frontend) and cloud engineers, who also cover ETL and data pipeline work, QA automation, and business systems analysis. Serve as the team's functional manager, handling hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management through regular one-on-ones and goal setting, along with career development, mentoring, and succession planning.
Build a motivated, engaged team culture by setting clear expectations, recognizing contributions, creating growth opportunities, and addressing issues early. Plan team capacity and staffing and make sound decisions on how work and skills are distributed across the team. Product partnership, prioritization, and strategy Partner closely with Product Managers on roadmap execution and staffing needs, turning product direction into clear outcomes, milestones, delivery plans, and execution tradeoffs.
Lead prioritization with Product Managers and organizational leadership, balancing new features, technical debt, operational work, and shifting business needs. Set the team's technical strategy and direction, and communicate priorities and the reasons behind them so every engineer understands how their work supports the goals.
Evaluate new technologies, tools, and processes, and recommend improvements for reliability, speed, quality, and cost reduction. Delivery and execution Drive day-to-day execution, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, and keep a multi-sprint-ahead view of the team's work. Own JIRA dashboard management and release planning, and track delivery, quality, and reliability metrics to guide improvement.
Coordinate cross-team work with security, infrastructure, data, and partner teams, and communicate risks, progress, and tradeoffs to leadership. Oversee ETL and data integration work across internal and external sources, ensuring repeatable refresh processes, automation, reconciliation, and data quality controls. AI-accelerated delivery Lead team-wide adoption of AI-assisted engineering workflows, including coding, testing, documentation, and code review support, within clear guardrails rather than unchecked use.
Identify and prioritize AI-enabled automation opportunities, such as data pipeline and reporting automation, anomaly detection, reconciliation, and intelligent alerting. Ensure responsible AI usage around security, privacy, intellectual property, and validation of outputs, and measure the effect on delivery speed and quality.
Technical oversight and operational excellence Provide technical direction and oversight of application and integration architecture hosted in AWS, ensuring scalability, security, maintainability, and cost awareness. Establish and uphold engineering standards for API and service design, code review, CI/CD and release practices, and automated testing and quality gates.
Ensure production readiness and operational excellence, including monitoring, incident response, root cause analysis, runbooks, and disaster recovery documentation. Promote secure-by-default development practices, including dependency and vulnerability management, secrets management, and least-privilege access. Coordinate data platform usage and patterns in AWS, with Snowflake and Google Analytics experience preferred.
Oversee capacity planning and environment strategy across development, test, stage, and production. Administration Own the financial budget as assigned, and maintain accountability for time reporting, budgeting inputs, and other administrative responsibilities required for ongoing team support. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of professional software development experience, including 1-3 years as a people manager of software engineers. Demonstrated success building, motivating, and retaining high-performing engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, and career development. Proven ability to partner with Product Managers to prioritize work, plan roadmaps, and deliver outcomes in an Agile environment.
Solid technical foundation in Java and Spring Boot services, React frontend development, and cloud-native patterns such as containers and microservices, sufficient to guide architecture and design decisions and review technical approaches. Working knowledge of AWS and container orchestration through EKS or ECS, with an understanding of observability, incident management, and operational readiness.
Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Aurora, or RDS, search technologies such as Open. Search, Elasticsearch, or SOLR, and ETL and data pipeline practices. Strong understanding of CI/CD and automated testing strategies in an iterative delivery environment. Experience introducing AI-assisted tools or workflows to a team, or a strong demonstrated interest in doing so responsibly.
Excellent communication skills, able to explain architecture, risks, and tradeoffs to engineers, product partners, and senior stakeholders. Experience with Agile delivery and leading teams through iterative planning and execution. Desired Qualifications: Strong AWS and Snowflake experience. Experience with Google Analytics for reporting and insights.
Familiarity with accessibility considerations for web applications and platform UI integrations Working Conditions: Normal office environment. ADA/EAA: The above statements cover what are generally believed to be principal and essential functions of this job. Specific circumstances may allow or require some people assigned to the job to perform a somewhat different combination of duties.
