Based in Lancaster, PA, and Ellicott City, MD, we are a Commercial General Contractor that is formed by our hardworking, driven, and relationship-oriented team.
Who You Are
Someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-stakes, and dynamic environment, where no two days are the same. You care about high standards, excellence, and getting it done right—every time. You care about integrity, honesty, and authenticity in all you do and in all your relationships. Own Your Scope: Lead a portion of a large project or take full responsibility for a smaller project, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to Benchmark standards.
Coordinate the Work: Direct and support Benchmark employees and subcontractors, making sure teams have the resources, information, and direction needed to be successful. Drive Productivity: Help keep projects on schedule by planning work, monitoring manpower, and maintaining momentum in the field. Champion Safety: Lead by example, enforce safety standards, identify hazards, and create an environment where everyone goes home safe.
Protect Quality: Review work in progress, correct issues early, and ensure projects are completed with minimal punch list items and exceptional craftsmanship. Be the Connector: Collaborate closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, field teams, and subcontractors to keep communication clear and projects moving forward.
Plan Ahead: Assist with look-ahead schedules, shop drawing reviews, material deliveries, and project logistics to keep work flowing efficiently. Lead Through Influence: Support employee development, provide performance feedback, and help build a positive, high-performing jobsite culture. Own the Details: Keep daily logs, manpower reporting, progress photos, as-built drawings, and project documentation accurate and up to date.
Learn & Grow: Participate in turnover meetings, project kickoffs, superintendent meetings, and training opportunities that prepare you for the next level of leadership. Build Relationships: Be a trusted partner to clients, subcontractors, and team members by communicating professionally and representing Benchmark with integrity.
Step Up: Be ready to take the lead when needed, contributing solutions, managing challenges, and helping drive successful project outcomes. Above all, you are hungry, humble, and people-smart. Construction Leadership: 5 + years of construction experience through on-the-job training, vocational school, technical college, a formal apprenticeship, or a combination of education and field leadership experience.
Project Ownership: Experience leading portions of commercial construction projects, coordinating field teams, subcontractors, schedules, and daily jobsite activities. Blueprint Proficiency: Ability to confidently read and interpret architectural, structural, and site drawings, while translating plans into successful field execution.
Leadership Mindset: Proven ability to lead teams, build accountability, provide feedback, and maintain a productive, positive jobsite culture. Safety Commitment: OSHA 30-Hour and First Aid/CPR/AED certified, with a strong understanding of jobsite safety and risk management. Organization & Planning: Skilled at managing schedules, manpower, logistics, documentation, and competing priorities without losing sight of the details.
Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using technology in the field, including Microsoft Office, Procore, and other construction management tools. Problem-Solving Ability: Able to think critically, resolve issues quickly, and make sound decisions that keep projects moving forward. Communication Skills: Clear and professional communicator who can effectively work with clients, subcontractors, field teams, and project leadership.
Reliable & Ready: Dependable, adaptable, and willing to take ownership of challenges while helping deliver successful project outcomes. A Culture Built to Care: At Benchmark, taking care of people isn’t a tagline; it’s a core value. Through our Built to Care initiative, we focus on your whole well-being: mental, physical, financial, emotional, and professional.
When our people thrive, our projects and communities do too. A Strong Team Environment : You’ll join a team that genuinely enjoys working together. We have each other's backs. We celebrate often, and create space for everyone to belong, whether at picnics, appreciation events, or spontaneous “just because” moments. Wellbeing That Means Something: Enjoy wellness support that goes far beyond the basics: free and unlimited counseling sessions for you and your dependents, an on‑site fitness center, nutritional services, biometric screenings, and a strong focus on safety so everyone goes home healthy.
Growth & Development at Every Stage: Through Benchmark University, Leadership Development, career pathing, personal development plans, tuition reimbursement, and access to professional groups, you’ll have clear ways to learn, grow, and lead — from day one and throughout your career. Innovative, Forward-Thinking Work: Construction is always evolving, and so are we.
You’ll work with modern tools, technology, and systems that keep us ahead of the curve. Your Voice Matters Here: Between our Mentorship Program, employee resource groups, and cross‑company collaboration, you have real opportunities to shape the direction of Benchmark and make a meaningful impact. A Dynamic Industry: Every day brings something new — new challenges, new wins, new opportunities to build what matters.
If you love variety, problem‑solving, and working with great people, you’ll love it here.
