Position Overview

This role leads the entire accounting organization with vision and purpose. As VP of Accounting, you’ll shape long-term strategy, ensure financial integrity, and partner with executive leadership to support growth and transformation. This is a high-impact, enterprise-wide leadership role for seasoned executives. What You’ll Do: Set the vision and strategic direction for accounting across the enterprise.

Provide strategic leadership for all accounting functions, including general ledger, reporting, compliance, and technical accounting. Ensure integrity and transparency of financial statements and disclosures. Lead enterprise-wide initiatives such as IPO readiness, M&A, and global expansion. Develop and execute long-term vision for accounting operations and talent.

Build strong relationships with executive leadership, board members, and external stakeholders. Oversee risk management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance. Champion innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. Provide training, support, and development opportunities to team members to ensure high performance and engagement.

Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for professional development. What You’ll Bring to Zelis: Typically has Masters +15 yrs., PhD/ MD +12; Demonstrated accomplishment internally and externally; Has followership in subject matter area; Attends company training and regional training in area of expertise.

Presents own work to members of department and external consultants and external professional societies. Often published in high quality publications and media opportunities. Requires proficiency using AI tools skillfully with an understanding of how to develop/create intelligent prompts and/or agents. Executive-level leadership in accounting strategy.

Proven success in scaling organizations globally. Strong financial acumen and operational oversight. Ability to influence and collaborate across the C-suite. Location and Workplace Flexibility Zelis is headquartered in the U.S., with multiple locations across the country and in Hyderabad, India. Check out our locations to learn more about our offices. All employee work locations are based on the needs of the position and are determined by the Leadership team. In-office work and activities vary based on work and team objectives in accordance with Company policies.

While location expectations vary by role, candidates within approximately 50 miles of a U.S. office are generally preferred to support collaboration when needed. Our hybrid approach is flexible, and in-office presence is guided by team and business needs rather than a fixed weekly schedule.
