Description: K-12 Visual Arts Specialist - part time 49% Job Summary: The K-12 Visual Arts Specialist provides leadership, instructional support, and program coordination to ensure high-quality visual arts instruction across the district. This position collaborates with K�12 art teachers, school leaders, and community partners to strengthen curriculum, support professional learning, coordinate student exhibitions, and promote outstanding visual arts experiences for all students.
Qualifications
Valid Georgia teaching certificate in Visual Arts (or eligibility). Successful K-12 visual arts teaching experience. Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum, instructional best practices, and student art exhibition as well as event planning. Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and collaboration skills. Experience facilitating professional learning and mentoring educators is preferred.
Experienced Required: Five or more years of successful teaching and experience Proficient skills: Deep understanding of the relationships among content area knowledge, pedagogy, professional learning, and school improvement. Physical Requirements: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Support and coach K�12 visual arts teachers through classroom visits, instructional feedback, mentoring, and resource development. Assist with curriculum implementation, lesson planning resources, instructional best practices, model teaching, and program initiatives. Plan and facilitate professional learning, new teacher support, and district visual arts meetings.
Coordinate district-wide student art exhibitions, including Youth Art Month, community displays, and special events. Maintain the district visual arts calendar, communication, newsletters, and digital resource library. Work collaboratively with the Music and Performing Arts Specialist to provide leadership in planning, promoting, and implementing district-wide fine arts programs and events.
Collaborate with district departments and community organizations to promote student artwork and expand exhibition opportunities. Strengthen vertical alignment by facilitating, communicating, and collaborating among feeder schools and high schools. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance. Perform allowable duties as assigned in accordance with the respective federal funding program.
