Job description
Monitor Technician – Telemetry PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend | Springfield, OR Per Diem/Relief | 0.00 FTE | Variable Shift Pay Range: $22.62 - $35.33 per hour The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.
This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting. Your Attention Could Be the Difference Between a Routine Shift and a Critical Moment If you're the type of person who naturally notices patterns, catches details others miss, and enjoys staying focused in a fast-paced healthcare environment, this role offers an opportunity to be an important part of the patient safety team at PeaceHealth RiverBend.
Why PeaceHealth? Why Now? Be the first line of defense. Your ability to recognize changes in a patient's heart rhythm helps ensure the care team can respond quickly when every second matters. Join a nationally recognized regional medical center. RiverBend is the flagship hospital for PeaceHealth in Oregon, serving patients across the Southern Willamette Valley.
We'll teach the telemetry-specific skills. While healthcare experience is helpful, we're open to candidates with transferable strengths, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. Make an impact without providing direct bedside care. You'll play a critical role in patient outcomes through observation, communication, and monitoring expertise.
Enjoy flexibility. Per diem scheduling allows you to build healthcare experience while maintaining personal, educational, family, or other professional commitments.
What You'll Do
As a Monitor Technician, you'll help the care team keep a close watch on patients' cardiac activity and alert clinicians when something changes. You'll: Continuously monitor patients' heart rhythms using centralized telemetry equipment. Recognize changes, irregular rhythms, and potential cardiac concerns. Quickly communicate important findings to nurses and providers.
Document rhythm changes according to department standards. Assist providers and caregivers by locating and reviewing telemetry history. Help ensure monitoring equipment is functioning properly. Support admissions, discharges, transfers, and other unit-related clerical tasks. Serve as a trusted partner to the nursing team to help keep patients safe.
What We're Looking For
Required Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire. Completion of an EKG class and monitoring equipment class within one month of hire (equipment familiarity may substitute for the monitoring equipment class at RiverBend). Basic computer skills. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Basic knowledge of heart anatomy and physiology.
Preferred High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Nurse Aide, Medical Assistant, or similar healthcare training program. Experience in a healthcare, hospital, patient care, or cardiology setting.
Nice to Have
We know great caregivers come from many backgrounds. If you're attentive, enjoy focused work, have strong pattern-recognition skills, and take pride in helping others stay safe, we'd love to hear from you, even if you don't have direct monitor technician experience. This role can be a great fit for individuals seeking flexible scheduling while building or expanding a career in healthcare.
