Job description

This is a remote position. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Civil Stormwater Manager to oversee stormwater management planning, design, and compliance for a wide range of civil infrastructure projects. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, leadership ability, and project management skills to deliver sustainable, innovative, and cost-effective stormwater solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and implementation of stormwater management systems, including drainage, detention, retention, water quality treatment, and flood mitigation. Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including stormwater permits, environmental guidelines, and applicable codes. Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software (e.

g., XP-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Civil 3D, AutoCAD). Oversee site development stormwater strategies, erosion/sedimentation control, and green infrastructure solutions (e.g., rain gardens, bioswales, permeable pavements). Review technical drawings, specifications, and reports to ensure accuracy, compliance, and constructability.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil engineers, planners, environmental scientists, contractors, and clients) to deliver integrated solutions. Manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables while maintaining a high standard of quality and client satisfaction. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.

Prepare and present technical reports, studies, and proposals to internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred). Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certification strongly preferred. 7+ years of progressive experience in stormwater engineering, water resources, or civil infrastructure design. Strong knowledge of hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software and civil design tools.

Proven track record of managing stormwater design projects from planning through construction. Excellent understanding of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements. Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
