Job description
Staffing Coordinator Reports To: Branch Manager Location: Des Plaines, IL (on-site, split between our branch office and a dedicated account location) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM, with earlier start times on Mondays and Thursdays and Saturdays as needed Compensation: $22.50/hour + bonus + overtime, paid weekly This is the job for people who hate sitting still Some jobs you clock into.
This one you dive into. At Midway Staffing, we connect real people with real opportunities at some of the most respected light industrial employers around Des Plaines, and we solve the workforce problems those employers lose sleep over. As a Staffing Coordinator, you're the face of Midway in two places at once: on the floor where the work happens and at the branch where it all gets organized.
You're the person a plant manager calls at 6 AM when they're short a full crew for the morning line. You're the person a job seeker never forgets because you actually picked up the phone and followed through. If your favorite feeling is the click of an open order getting filled fast and filled right, we should talk. Your week, start to finish Your week has a rhythm, and you'll learn to own it.
On Mondays and Thursdays, you're embedded on-site at one of our key accounts, starting early to match their shift schedule. You'll be right there on the floor, building trust face to face, catching issues before they turn into problems, and making sure our associates are set up to succeed. The rest of the week, you're back at the branch keeping everything moving.
Timesheets get reviewed and cleaned up. Recruiting gets your support, whether that's screening walk-ins, working the phones, or jumping into the ATS and leaving it better than you found it. Anything your on-site account needs gets handled, and when other accounts need an extra set of hands, you're there for those too.
The people who win here are the ones who get sharper when the day speeds up. Who see the problem coming and head it off before it turns into an escalation. Who watch their numbers like they own them, because they do. Fill rate, retention, attendance, account satisfaction. You'll move those numbers, and you'll feel the win every time they climb.
What you'll own You'll build real relationships with the employers we serve and the job seekers we place, and become the first name they think of for anything staffing. You'll source, screen, and interview candidates, then match them to roles so well the placement actually sticks. You'll keep payroll accurate by owning timesheet accuracy week in and week out.
You'll partner with your recruiters and your Branch Manager on hiring strategy, throw yourself into career fairs and recruitment drives to grow the local talent pool, and keep your ear to the ground on the Des Plaines job market so your branch is always a step ahead. And once a placement is live, you're the one making sure both sides are happy it happened.
What tells us you'll crush it You build rapport fast, and people trust you almost immediately. You say what you mean, clearly and directly, whether you're on a production floor, across a desk, on the phone, or firing off an email, and you're just as comfortable managing a nervous candidate as a demanding plant manager.
You can switch between the floor and the office without missing a beat, and you can juggle ten priorities without dropping a single one. You'd rather solve the problem yourself than wait around for someone to solve it for you. You move with urgency, you follow through every single time, and let's be honest, you'd take a busy day over a slow one any week.
