• The Locate Technician is responsible for accurately identifying and marking underground utilities to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. This role requires a keen attention to detail and a commitment to safety standards, helping prevent damage to critical infrastructure and ensuring public safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough site surveys to identify and mark underground utilities using specialized equipment.
• Interpret and analyze utility maps and blueprints to ensure precise location of utilities.
• Communicate effectively with construction teams and other stakeholders to provide clear and accurate information regarding utility locations.
• Maintain detailed records of all markings and surveys conducted, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and damage during excavation activities.
• Stay updated on industry standards, technology advancements, and regulatory changes related to utility locating.
• Provide training and guidance to junior technicians and new team members as needed.
• Respond promptly to emergency locate requests to support urgent excavation needs.

Qualifications

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent. An associate degree in a related field is preferred. Required Experience:
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in utility locating or a related field.
• Proven track record of working with utility maps and blueprints.
• Experience with electronic locating equipment and GPS technology.

• Strong understanding of utility infrastructure and underground utilities.
