School Social Worker Salary: (BA) $57,130 - $119,553 (PHD) (Per Contract) The following documents must be complete and current for application to be considered for this position: X Online Application X Letter of Interest X Resume X Copy of Valid Certification and/or License X Official Transcripts X Three Current Letters of Recommendation (dated within one year of application) JOB# 139 TITLE: School Social Worker QUALIFICATIONS: State of Connecticut Certification as a School Social Worker Graduate degree in Social Work REPORTS TO: Building Principal/s where assignment/s are based JOB GOAL: To help students resolve personal, emotional and social problems that interfere with their adjustment to school and their capacity to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered them.

To assist with a wide-range of building duties including but not limited to PPT member, Early Invention Process team services, classroom support, crisis intervention, and participation in building level initiatives. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs casework service with individual students to address personal, social and/or emotional maladjustments, which impact their educational and social progress.
2. Works with parents/guardians to increase the parents' understanding and constructive participation in resolving their child's problems, and to increase their knowledge and use of available resources in the school and community.
3. Consults and collaborates with other school personnel in gathering and providing information on individual students, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in addressing the student's behavior. This may include being an active member of building Planning and Placement Team, Early Intervention Process Team, Crisis Response Team and Positive Behavior Support teams.
4. Supervises the referral of students to, and serves as liaison with, such outside agencies, community services, and Juvenile Court, as appropriate.
5. Makes home visits for the purpose of gathering helpful information on a student's background.
6. Serves as liaison between home and school when considerable follow-up is necessary, as in DCF cases, foster home placement, etc.
7. Assists students directly to benefit their adjustment to school.
8. Demonstrates knowledge of the theory and practice of the discipline.
9. Effectively assesses student needs and monitors progress.
10. Plans and effectively implements programs and interventions to achieve established objectives.
11. Facilitates the development of student independence and improved self-concept.
12. Effectively communicates with students, family members, school personnel and members of the community, as appropriate.
13. Promotes a positive learning environment. Provides support to classroom teachers, both through consultation and direct classroom presentations and support.
14. Facilitates the cooperative involvement of parents and the community in the educational process.
15. Meets professional responsibilities.
16. Assumes such other functions as may be determined. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
