Patient Accounting - Marshall Dentistry & Oral Surgery

Job Responsibilities

Reviews and processes refund requests. Utilizes the necessary electronic and manual systems to identify and capture source documentation needed for the coding and generation of provider charges/claims. Performs the data entry role for all necessary billing and claims related functions including, but not limited to charge entry and payment posting.

Answers phone calls and/or inquiries from patients, insurance carriers or other parties to assist in the submission, payment or clarification of claims or billing related issues. Carries out routine requests for information from any number of sources such as the practice management system, archived or scanned billing documents, or supporting documentation for prior charges.

Provides various reports, both monthly and ad-hoc, as defined and requested utilized either the practice management system or an available external reporting solution. Performs the precertification process for scheduled procedures as necessary, including communication of any balances due to the patient. Works with Corporate and Department management to develop, maintain, and follow policies and procedures relating to and in support of the Department’s and Corporation’s Compliance Program for Professional Fee Reimbursement.

Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Education

High school diploma or GED. Experience: Minimum of one year billing experience in a health care organization, with a preference toward candidates with experience and knowledge of the claim denial/accounts receivable process. Working knowledge of Cerner Practice Management software is a plus. Internal applicants must call HR at ext.
