Job description
Our Mission
We support more than 9,000 girls across Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois, helping them build courage, confidence, and character through experiences that develop leadership, life skills, and lifelong connections.
Scope of the Role
As Community Engagement Manager, you will drive outcomes that expand Girl Scouts access across your territory by owning membership growth targets and representing the organization in the community. This mission driven role blends relationship management with measurable recruitment strategy.
Key responsibilities include
- Develop and execute recruitment plans for girls and adult volunteers; form new troops and strengthen retention
- Build and sustain partnerships with schools, families, and community organizations
- Plan and deliver outreach and recruitment events; present clearly to varied audiences
- Use Microsoft Office and CRM/data systems to track activity, analyze progress, and report results
- Work a Monday-Friday schedule with regular evenings, occasional weekends, and travel as needed
Required qualifications/skills:
- 2+ years in recruitment, sales, community engagement, volunteer management, membership development, account management, or Customer Service (or comparable internship/volunteer experience)
- Strong organization, communication, and accountability; ability to lift/transport up to 35 lbs
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle/insurance; support of the Girl Scout mission and ability to maintain membership
Apply to lead and shape community growth with senior-level ownership.
Total Rewards
Competitive total compensation includes $40,000 pay, plus Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage; 403(b); Life Insurance; and a Flexible Spending Account. You’ll also receive Paid Time Off, Employee Discounts, a Flexible Work Schedule, and work-from-home flexibility to support sustained performance.
Weekly Operating Cadence
Your week may start by checking CRM dashboards and recent outreach activity, then setting priorities for the schools, neighborhoods, and partner networks most likely to move membership goals. From there, you shift quickly between focused work-from-home planning and in-person relationship building-confirming meeting agendas, tailoring talking points, and coordinating materials for upcoming recruitment moments. Midweek is often field-facing: brief presentations, partner check-ins, and conversations that mirror a Sales Manager rhythm-qualify interest, address concerns, and secure clear next steps. Evenings are reserved for high-attendance touchpoints, with a Customer Service mindset that keeps families and volunteers informed and supported. You close the week by logging results, assessing conversion, and refining messaging so each Mission Driven outreach cycle performs better than the last.
