About the Role
The Dietary Cook plays a critical role in preparing nutritious and appetizing meals tailored to meet the dietary needs of residents in a long-term care facility. The Dietary Cook collaborates closely with dietary staff and healthcare professionals to implement diet therapy plans effectively. Minimum Qualifications
Experience working in a long-term care facility or similar healthcare environment. Knowledge of sanitation standards and food safety regulations. Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions related to food preparation and diet therapy. Demonstrated skills in quantity and quality cooking. Capability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Formal training or certification in dietary cooking or nutrition. Experience with diet therapy and specialized dietary needs. Familiarity with flexible scheduling in healthcare or food service settings. Proactive approach to seeking out new cooking methods and nutritional principles.
Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals in accordance with prescribed diet therapy plans and facility standards. Maintain strict sanitation and hygiene practices to ensure food safety and compliance with health regulations. Work collaboratively with dietary and healthcare teams to accommodate special dietary needs and preferences. Manage quantity and quality of food production to meet the demands of the long-term care facility.
Read, write, and understand instructions related to recipes, dietary restrictions, and safety protocols. Seek out and implement new methods and principles to improve food preparation and service. Adapt to a flexible work schedule to support facility operations, including weekends and holidays. Skills: The Dietary Cook utilizes sanitation skills daily to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, preventing contamination and ensuring compliance with health standards.
Performing work tasks efficiently and accurately is essential to prepare meals that meet both quantity and quality requirements.
