Technical Operations Officer (Workshop & Asset Support), UNSW Canberra Employment type: Full-time Duration: Continuing/permanent Remuneration: Level 5/6. Level 5 from $ 92,265, Level 6 from $ 108,021 + leave loading + 17% super Location : UNSW Canberra, ADFA Campus Work rights required: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, the Technical Operations Officer provides general support to the School of Science through the maintenance of its assets and fleet of vehicles. In addition, the Technical Operations Officer will support the staff through the delivery of the management of assets, movement of equipment and furniture as well as participation in WH&S inspections and general School maintenance.

You will report to the Manager, Mechanical Workshop. Accountabilities: Duties are varied but include overseeing fleet vehicles and workshop assets. General support to the staff. Development and maintenance of our online tracking systems. Taking deliveries. Coordinating contractors. General maintenance. A commitment to health and safety.

Who You Are

(skills and experience): At Level 5

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and effectively within and across teams to build relationships with colleagues, and internal and external stakeholders to deliver on outcomes within prescribed deadlines.
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, SharePoint, internet and email and online systems.
  • Must hold a current driving licence valid in the ACT.
  • Ability to produce accurate, timely and well-presented information that meets requirements.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training. At Level 6 (in addition to the above)
  • Completion of a trade or WH&S certificate OR completion of Year 12 with relevant work experience OR combination of other relevant education/training and experience.
  • Ability to learn and contribute to the development and implementation of new systems and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to, initiate and establish new procedures, guidelines and processes both independently and as a part of a team, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and contributing to projects and initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to consult and liaise with colleagues and internal and external stakeholders at varying levels of authority using demonstrated ability to interact effectively and respectfully with people from differing backgrounds on both technical and non-technical levels.
  • Ability to draft WH&S documentation. for example, but not limited to, Risk Assessments and Safe Work Procedures.
