High School Dual Enrollment Math Teacher POSITION INFORMATION Position Title High School Dual Enrollment Math Teacher Position Classification Licensed / Instructional Department Instruction Reports To Building Principal or Designee FLSA Status Exempt Employment Status Full-Time Work Calendar 10 Months / Contracted Teacher Workdays Salary Scale Teacher Salary Scale Work Location Prince George High School Supervises Students and Assigned Support Personnel, as Applicable Revision Date October 2026 POSITION SUMMARY The Secondary Teacher � Grades 6�12 provides high-quality, standards-aligned instruction that supports the academic, social, and developmental growth of all students.
The teacher creates a safe, engaging, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment; plans and delivers effective instruction; assesses student progress; differentiates instruction to meet diverse learning needs; and works collaboratively with families, colleagues, and school personnel to promote student success.
The teacher demonstrates the professional knowledge, instructional skills, and ethical practices expected of licensed educators in the Commonwealth of Virginia and supports the PGCPS mission to Engage, Encourage, and Inspire Every Child, Every Day . ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES The following responsibilities reflect the Virginia Department of Education's expectations for effective teaching and the instructional priorities of Prince George County Public Schools.
Teaching and Learning Demonstrates knowledge of assigned content, curriculum, the Virginia Standards of Learning, and the developmental needs of secondary students. Plans and delivers rigorous, engaging, standards-aligned instruction using effective and research-based instructional practices. Establishes clear learning objectives and communicates high expectations for student learning.
Differentiates instruction to meet the academic, developmental, linguistic, and individual needs of students. Uses instructional technology and appropriate resources to enhance student engagement and learning. Provides appropriate intervention, remediation, enrichment, and academic support based on student needs. Assessment and Student Progress Uses formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and guide instructional decisions.
Analyzes student performance data and adjusts instruction to improve student achievement. Provides students with timely, meaningful, and constructive feedback. Maintains accurate grades, assessment records, and required student documentation. Monitors student academic progress and collaborates with colleagues and support personnel when students require additional assistance.
Accepts responsibility for supporting measurable and appropriate academic growth for students. Learning Environment and Student Support Establishes and maintains a safe, respectful, inclusive, structured, and engaging learning environment. Implements consistent and developmentally appropriate classroom management practices.
Builds positive professional relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries. Promotes student responsibility, independence, collaboration, and active participation in learning. Implements required accommodations, modifications, interventions, and supports identified through IEPs, Section 504 Plans, English Learner plans, and other applicable student plans.
Collaborates with special education teachers, counselors, related service providers, interventionists, and other professionals to support student success. Provides appropriate supervision of students and follows established safety, emergency, and student discipline procedures. Equity and Responsive Instruction Maintains high academic and behavioral expectations for all students.
Provides equitable access to rigorous grade-level content and meaningful learning opportunities. Uses instructional practices and resources responsive to students' academic, developmental, cultural, linguistic, and individual needs. Recognizes barriers to student learning and works collaboratively to provide appropriate support.
Treats all students with dignity, fairness, and respect. Communication, Collaboration, and Professionalism Communicates regularly and professionally with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, administrators, and other stakeholders. Collaborates with colleagues through Professional Learning Communities, instructional teams, faculty meetings, and other school and division initiatives.
Participates in professional learning and applies new knowledge and skills to improve instructional practice. Reflects upon professional performance and uses feedback, student outcomes, and professional goals to support continuous improvement. Demonstrates professional ethics, integrity, dependability, sound judgment, and appropriate professional conduct.
Maintains confidentiality of student and personnel information. Maintains required licensure, endorsements, certifications, and professional development requirements. Maintains regular and reliable attendance and completes required records, reports, and administrative responsibilities within established timelines. Fulfills all mandated reporting responsibilities and complies with applicable federal and state laws, School Board policies, regulations, and division procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Holds or is eligible to hold a valid Virginia teaching license, provisional license, or other teaching credential or authorization recognized by the Virginia Department of Education and permitted by applicable Virginia law. Holds, or is eligible to obtain, the appropriate Virginia teaching endorsement required for the assigned grade level and content area.
Meets all applicable Virginia Department of Education requirements for employment as a licensed teacher. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrates knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, classroom management, and adolescent development. Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with students representing a variety of academic, developmental, linguistic, and educational needs.
Demonstrates proficiency with instructional technology and other technology required by the school division.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous successful teaching or student-teaching experience at the secondary level. Experience using student data to differentiate instruction and improve achievement. Experience with collaborative instruction, Professional Learning Communities, and inclusive educational practices. Experience integrating instructional technology into teaching and learning.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES The Secondary Teacher should demonstrate: Knowledge of the Virginia Standards of Learning and applicable curriculum frameworks. Knowledge of effective secondary instructional, assessment, and classroom management practices. Knowledge of adolescent growth and development. Ability to plan and deliver rigorous, relevant, engaging, and differentiated instruction.
Ability to establish a safe, respectful, structured, and productive learning environment. Ability to analyze student performance data and use results to improve instruction. Ability to support students with diverse learning needs in inclusive educational environments. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, colleagues, administrators, and other stakeholders. Ability to use instructional technology effectively. Ability to exercise sound professional judgment, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate professional conduct. Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Regularly required to communicate with students, staff, families, and other stakeholders. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout classrooms and school facilities. Requires sufficient mobility to provide instruction, supervise students, and respond to student and school safety needs.
Requires sufficient visual and auditory ability to supervise students, deliver instruction, review student work, and operate instructional technology. Requires regular use of computers, interactive displays, audiovisual equipment, and other educational technology. May occasionally require lifting, carrying, pushing, or moving instructional materials and equipment weighing up to approximately 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed primarily in a public secondary school environment and may include classrooms, laboratories, offices, hallways, cafeterias, gymnasiums, outdoor instructional areas, and other school-related settings.
The position involves frequent interaction with students, staff, families, and administrators and requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond appropriately to changing instructional and student needs. The employee may be required to participate in meetings, professional development, parent conferences, school activities, and other responsibilities occurring before or after the regular instructional day as established by contract, School Board policy, or administrative assignment.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Ten-month contracted position. Salary and work calendar are established annually by the Prince George County School Board.
Compensation
is based on the approved teacher salary scale and applicable years of creditable experience. Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining the license, endorsement, credential, or other authorization required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and Prince George County Public Schools for the employee's assigned teaching responsibilities.
Specific teaching assignments, grade levels, courses, schools, and instructional responsibilities may be modified based upon student enrollment, licensure and endorsement, program requirements, scheduling, and the operational needs of Prince George County Public Schools. EVALUATION Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Prince George County School Board policy and the Virginia Board of Education's Guidelines for Uniform Performance Standards and Evaluation Criteria for Teachers.
Evaluation will consider the teacher's overall effectiveness in the eight areas established by the Virginia Board of Education: Professional Knowledge � Demonstrates appropriate content, curriculum, pedagogical, and student-development knowledge. Instructional Planning � Plans standards-aligned instruction based on curriculum expectations, student needs, and available data.
Instructional Delivery � Uses effective instructional strategies to actively engage students and promote learning. Assessment of and for Student Learning � Uses assessment and student data to monitor learning, provide feedback, and guide instruction. Learning Environment � Establishes a safe, respectful, inclusive, well-managed, and academically engaging classroom.
Culturally Responsive Teaching and Equitable Practices � Maintains high expectations and provides equitable, responsive learning opportunities for all students. Professionalism � Demonstrates ethical conduct, effective communication and collaboration, professional growth, and fulfillment of professional responsibilities.
Student Academic Progress � Uses evidence of student learning and growth to evaluate and improve instructional effectiveness.
