Chemical Laboratory Technician

Position Chemcial Laboratory Technician Location Bailieborough Reporting To: Product Quality Manager Date Oct 2026 The opportunity: The Chemical Laboratory Technician is responsible for carrying out chemical analysis and quality testing of dairy products and raw materials to ensure compliance with Lakeland Dairies and customer specifications.

The role involves product sampling, laboratory testing, product grading and release, maintaining accurate quality records, and supporting continuous improvement in product quality and food safety standards. Working closely with Production, Quality Assurance and Operations teams, the Chemical Laboratory Technician plays a key role in ensuring product integrity, laboratory compliance, and adherence to health, safety and quality management systems.

What does success look like?

• Chemical analysis of Milk Powder, Butter, Whey, WPC, Vegetable Oil, Milk Concentrate to conformance to Lakeland Dairies and customer specifications.
• Collection of all necessary samples.
• Sample analysis to product specification, including fat, protein, moisture, wettability, bulk density, solubility, coffee, acidity analysis.
• Finished product grading and release.
• Data inputting and communication to relevant personnel by email and verbally.
• Sampling and chemical testing of raw materials as deemed necessary.
• Assembly and labelling of all samples for dispatch to outside laboratories.
• Carry out routine calibration checks on product test equipment.
• Carry out investigative sampling and testing to improve product quality and factory hygiene standards.
• Maintain GLP, good Health & Safety practice and laboratory ISO documentation, ensure laboratories are clean and tidy.
• Environmental Swabs.
• Verification of Cleaning Procedures.
• Plant swabbing where deemed necessary.
• Completion of Reports (including LIMS).
• Shelf life analysis of retained finished product samples.
• Carry out additional testing and reporting if deemed necessary by QA Manager.
• Member of internal auditing team.
• To take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of you and others.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations reference Lakeland Dairies Occupational Health and Safety Manual.
• A degree of flexibility will be required depending on site production.
