2D/3D Animation & VFX Artist (Mid-Senior)
Job description
Job Description We are looking for a talented 2D/3D Animation & VFX Artist to bring our mobile games to life through engaging animations and visual effects. In this role, you will create 2D and 3D animations, develop real-time visual effects, and integrate your work into our Unity/Cocos2d-x-based projects. Working closely with artists, game designers, and developers, you will contribute to the visual identity of our games and enhance the overall player experience.
We are looking for a team player who can take ownership of their work from concept to implementation and optimization, creating high-quality assets that align with the game's art direction and mobile performance requirements.
What You'll Do
Create 2D and 3D animations for characters, objects, and in-game elements. Set up 2D rigs in Spine, create animations, and integrate them into the game engine. Create character and object animations using Blender, Maya, or equivalent 3D software, and adapt existing animations when needed. Design stylized, real-time visual effects for in-game events, rewards, and transitions.
Create UI animations that support game menus, progression systems, and player feedback. Integrate animations and visual effects into Unity/Cocos2d-x projects and collaborate with developers on any required technical adjustments. Ensure animations and effects enhance gameplay timing, clarity, and responsiveness. Optimize animations and effects for mobile devices while maintaining a balance between visual quality and performance.
Create well-organized, reusable assets and contribute to improving production workflows. Take ownership of assigned tasks, track progress, and refine deliverables based on feedback.
What We're Looking For
3–5+ years of professional experience in game animation and/or real-time VFX, supported by a portfolio showcasing your animation and visual effects work. Strong hands-on experience with rigging, skinning, and 2D skeletal animation in Spine. Proficiency in Blender, Maya, or equivalent 3D software, particularly in animation and rigging workflows.
Experience working with Unity or Cocos2d-x, including the integration of animations, particle systems, and visual effects into game engines. A solid understanding of fundamental animation principles, including timing, anticipation, weight, and follow-through. A strong artistic eye for stylized movement, color, composition, and visual clarity.
Experience creating real-time effects that complement gameplay and the overall art direction of a project. Understanding of mobile performance limitations and the ability to optimize assets accordingly. Ability to plan and deliver tasks in line with production timelines. Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to both give and receive constructive feedback.
Good written and spoken English skills.
Nice to Have
Experience working on published mobile games or live-operated game projects. Knowledge of shaders, materials, and real-time rendering workflows. Experience creating VFX textures, sprite sheets, and flipbook animations. Proficiency in Photoshop, After Effects, or similar tools. Experience creating cinematic sequences. Basic knowledge of C# or C++ to support animation and VFX integration.
Experience improving production workflows and sharing knowledge with other artists. How to Apply Please submit your CV along with a portfolio or showreel showcasing your 2D/3D animation and real-time VFX work. We are particularly interested in seeing examples of Spine animations, 3D character or object animations, and visual effects implemented in Unity/Cocos2d-x.
For collaborative projects, please clearly highlight your individual contributions.
