• Windsor Locks, CT, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $17.00 - $17.00Hourly, Position Summary The Dishwasher / Utility team member is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen, dish room, and designated utility areas. This position plays an important role in keeping the kitchen operating efficiently by ensuring that all dishes, cookware, utensils, equipment, and work areas are cleaned, sanitized, and properly stored. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, maintains a strong sense of urgency, follows direction, and understands that cleanliness and organization are essential to a successful kitchen operation.

Qualifications

Essential Duties

& Responsibilities Dishwashing & Sanitation Operate the commercial dishwasher and maintain proper washing and sanitizing procedures. Wash, rinse, sanitize, and properly store all dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment. Maintain clean and organized dish racks and storage areas. Keep the three-compartment sink clean and properly maintained.

Monitor dish machine chemicals and notify management when supplies are low. Maintain clean floors, drains, walls, and dishwashing equipment. Follow all applicable health department and food safety standards. Kitchen Utility & Cleaning Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the kitchen. Assist with cleaning and organizing the dry storage area, freezer, walk-in, and designated storage spaces.

Maintain the chemical closet and mop closet in an orderly manner. Empty garbage and recycling throughout the shift and maintain clean garbage areas. Keep towels, soap, sanitizer, and other cleaning supplies stocked. Assist with cleaning kitchen equipment and completing assigned deep-cleaning tasks. Sweep and mop floors as needed to maintain a safe working environment.

Stocking & Organization Properly put away clean dishes, cookware, and kitchen supplies. Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries when directed. Maintain organization of kitchen storage areas. Ensure cleaning supplies and utility items are replenished. Communicate low inventory or equipment issues to management.

Teamwork & Professionalism Maintain a consistent sense of urgency throughout the shift. Respond promptly to requests from cooks, chefs, and management. Communicate effectively with the kitchen team. Maintain a positive, professional attitude. Follow instructions and complete assigned responsibilities without constant supervision.

Assist other kitchen departments when dish and utility responsibilities are under control. Performance Expectations All Dishwasher / Utility team members are expected to: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary dish room throughout the entire shift. Keep up with dish volume during busy service periods. Never allow dishes, pots, or pans to accumulate unnecessarily.

Properly clean and store all equipment rather than simply moving it out of the way. Complete assigned closing duties before clocking out. Maintain consistent attendance, punctuality, and dependability. Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and demonstrate initiative. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move for extended periods.

Ability to lift and carry kitchen equipment and supplies. Ability to work in a hot, wet, and fast-paced environment. Ability to bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
