Family Service Worker Greenville Independent School District Campus: LP Waters Early Childhood Center Program: Head Start Work Schedule: 216 Days Wage and Hour Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Campus Principal Position Overview Greenville ISD is seeking a compassionate, organized, and family-centered Family Service Worker to support children and families participating in the Head Start program at LP Waters Early Childhood Center.

This position builds strong partnerships with families, supports parent engagement, assists with eligibility and enrollment processes, connects families with community resources, and helps ensure compliance with Head Start program requirements. The Family Service Worker serves as an important link between the school, families, and community, helping families identify strengths, address needs, access resources, and actively participate in their child's development and educational experience.

Primary Purpose Provide comprehensive family support services to Head Start children and families through relationship building, family engagement, needs assessment, goal setting, referrals, community partnerships, and ongoing follow-up. Support Head Start eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance requirements while maintaining accurate documentation and assisting the program in meeting federal, district, and program requirements.

Education

and Certification High school diploma or GED required Associate degree or higher in social work, family services, human services, early childhood education, or a related field preferred Family service credential or willingness to obtain required credential or training within established program timelines Valid Texas driver's license and reliable transportation required for home visits, community outreach, and other assigned responsibilities Special Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of family engagement, family support, and community-based services Ability to establish respectful, professional, and goal-oriented relationships with families Ability to conduct family needs assessments and assist families with developing and monitoring goals Knowledge of or ability to learn Head Start Program Performance Standards and ERSEA requirements Ability to maintain accurate, confidential records and documentation Ability to identify community resources and coordinate appropriate referrals Ability to communicate effectively with families from diverse backgrounds Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and customer service skills Ability to manage multiple families, deadlines, documentation requirements, and priorities Ability to work collaboratively with campus staff, service providers, and community agencies Proficiency with computers, electronic records systems, and standard office applications Experience Experience working with children and families preferred Experience in Head Start, early childhood education, social services, family services, community outreach, or a related setting preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties Family Engagement and Support Services Establish and maintain respectful, trusting, and goal-oriented partnerships with Head Start families.

Conduct family needs assessments and assist families in identifying strengths, needs, resources, and goals. Assist families in developing, implementing, and monitoring Family Partnership Agreements. Maintain regular communication with assigned families and provide ongoing support and follow-up. Encourage family participation in their child's education, development, and school experience.

Support parent engagement activities that promote family well-being, positive parent-child relationships, and child development. Assist families in identifying and addressing barriers that may affect their child's participation and success in the Head Start program. Promote family self-sufficiency, advocacy, and access to appropriate resources and services.

Eligibility, Recruitment and Enrollment Assist with recruitment, eligibility, selection, enrollment, and attendance activities in accordance with Head Start ERSEA requirements. Support outreach and recruitment efforts to identify eligible children and families within the community. Assist families with completing required applications, enrollment documents, and supporting documentation.

Review documentation for completeness and accuracy and assist with maintaining required eligibility records. Help ensure accurate documentation and compliance with federal, district, and program eligibility requirements. Maintain confidentiality of family income, eligibility, and personal information. Support ongoing attendance monitoring and timely family follow-up regarding absences and attendance concerns.

Work collaboratively with campus and program staff to support enrollment and maintain program participation. Community Partnerships and Referrals Identify and maintain knowledge of community resources available to support Head Start children and families. Connect families with appropriate community programs, agencies, and services based on identified needs.

Make and track referrals for health, mental health, education, housing, food assistance, employment, transportation, and other social services as appropriate. Follow up with families and service providers regarding referrals and document outcomes. Collaborate with campus staff, service providers, and community agencies to coordinate support for families.

Develop and maintain positive working relationships with community partners. Assist families in navigating community systems and accessing available resources. Home Visits and Family Conferences Conduct home visits and family conferences in accordance with Head Start program requirements and district procedures. Use home visits and conferences to strengthen family partnerships, identify needs, monitor family goals, and connect families with appropriate resources.

Maintain appropriate documentation of home visits, conferences, family contacts, and follow-up activities. Follow district and program safety procedures when conducting home visits and community-based activities. Documentation and Compliance Maintain accurate, timely, complete, and confidential family records, case notes, Family Partnership Agreements, referral documentation, and required reports.

Enter and maintain family information in required district and Head Start data systems. Monitor assigned documentation and ensure records are completed within established timelines. Maintain documentation related to eligibility, enrollment, attendance, family services, referrals, and family engagement activities. Support Head Start program monitoring, audits, compliance reviews, and other accountability processes.

Assist with gathering records and documentation requested for program reviews. Follow Head Start Program Performance Standards, district procedures, confidentiality requirements, and applicable regulations. Participate in required training and professional development related to Head Start family services and program requirements.

Campus and Program Collaboration Collaborate with teachers, administrators, nurses, counselors, specialists, and other campus staff to support children and families. Participate in multidisciplinary discussions regarding family needs and services as appropriate. Communicate relevant family needs and concerns to appropriate staff while maintaining confidentiality.

Support family engagement events, parent meetings, workshops, recruitment activities, and campus programs. Assist with communication between families and the Head Start program. Promote positive relationships between families, the campus, Greenville ISD, and community partners. Professional Responsibilities Attend staff meetings, required trainings, family events, and program activities as assigned.

Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality. Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, discretion, cultural responsiveness, and excellent customer service. Maintain confidentiality of child and family information. Participate in ongoing professional development related to Head Start services, family engagement, ERSEA, and community resources.

Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Support LP Waters Early Childhood Center, Head Start, and district goals and initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned to support Head Start program goals. Supervisory Responsibilities None Working Conditions Physical Demands Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and keyboarding.

Frequent use of computers and standard office equipment. Ability to travel between the campus, family homes, community agencies, and other locations as required. Occasional lifting and carrying of records, supplies, materials, and equipment. Environmental Factors Work is performed in campus offices, classrooms, family homes, community locations, and other settings associated with Head Start services.

Frequent interaction with children, families, employees, community partners, and service providers. Local travel and home visits are required. May occasionally work outside regular hours to support family events, parent meetings, recruitment activities, and other program needs. Mental Demands Ability to manage multiple families, priorities, deadlines, and documentation requirements.

Ability to respond professionally and compassionately to families experiencing challenging circumstances. Ability to assess family needs, identify appropriate resources, solve problems, and coordinate services. Maintain confidentiality, emotional control, sound judgment, professional boundaries, and professionalism.
