Senior Accountant

CSI Sands (N.E.) operates state-of-the-art processing facilities to produce industrial silica sand products in Brevort, MI, Buffalo, NY and Cleveland, OH. We are currently searching for a Senior Accountant to be based in Calgary, Alberta and to complement our team in Buffalo, NY. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in day-to-day accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and control activities for CSI Sands (N.

E.) and will be an integral part of a fast-paced production environment. Reporting to the Director, Accounting and Finance, with a matrix reporting line to the General Manager, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for: Preparing timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules Leading month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and review of the general ledger Managing day-to-day accounting activities, including: accounts payable and accounts receivable cash receipts, disbursements, banking, and credit card reconciliations purchase order review and expenditure coding Maintaining fixed asset records and supporting capital expenditure accounting Supporting inventory accounting, costing, cycle counts, and reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting Preparing audit working papers and coordinating information required for the year-end audit Preparing and supporting annual regulatory, tax, and other required filings Maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls and recommending process improvements Providing accurate financial information and accounting support in response to ad hoc requests from internal stakeholders Leading, supporting, and overseeing a team of accounting administrators to ensure accurate and timely completion of day-to-day accounting activities Skills and Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation would be an asset Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on responsibility for month-end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is preferred; experience in the trucking industry would be considered an asset Experience with inventory accounting, costing, and reconciliation Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with accounting or ERP systems is preferred Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with close attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across operations Ability to organize priorities, meet reporting deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision A proactive, hands-on approach with a commitment to accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement We encourage all who are qualified and interested to apply in confidence; however, only those in consideration will be contacted.
