• LYNN, MA, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $20.16 - $20.16Hourly, SUMMARY OF POSITION Direct Care employees at Centerboard’s Youth Service Campus Programs are an integral part of the residents’ treatment team. All staff must understand and maintain a trauma-informed culture and provide active support in the daily care of residents. Employees will be required to understand and work with the behavioral and emotional needs of youth. They must provide a safe and structured environment while understanding how and when to intervene and teach healthier coping responses to stress and anxiety. Direct Care employees are responsible for providing supervised support and assistance to residents as they go about their daily living at the residential home. Staff will maintain daily records, ensure necessary interactions are documented, and complete required paperwork. Group meeting oversight and individual advocacy are also required. Fifty percent of a Direct Care employee’s position includes writing and documenting daily interactions, critical incidents, and progress notes. Thirty-five percent of this position requires direct youth support through various interactions and activities. This is a safety-sensitive position due to driving and medication administration responsibilities. Schedule: Part Time: Thursday–Saturday, 11 PM–9 AM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Maintain program logs and complete all required shift documentation, including progress notes, communication logs, incident reports, advocacy notes, room searches, resident community time, and bed checks. Provide proper documentation of all incidents that occur during shifts. Demonstrate understanding and ability to respond to crisis situations using the Behavior Management Techniques learned during New Hire Orientation. Adhere to program requirements as outlined in the job shadow checklist. Maintain responsibility for the safety and security of residents and the facility in the supervisor’s absence. Utilize Centerboard’s On-Call system to report incidents, alert necessary parties, and obtain after-hours support. Support other Youth Services programs when needed for staffing coverage or crisis management, including remaining beyond scheduled shifts when required. Build and maintain healthy relationships and positive interactions with residents, coworkers, and other involved parties. Understand and implement residents’ Individual Behavior Support Plans (IBSPs), Safety Plans, and Treatment Plan goals. Provide advocacy for residents through meetings, reviews, and other activities, and document these interactions. Provide daily coordination and assistance to residents, focusing on life skills, overall support, and supervision of daily activities. Implement and follow all Centerboard policies and program regulations. Complete program-specific rounds to ensure the safety and presence of residents while documenting observations in the Communication Log. Participate in and conduct group and individual resident support activities focused on preparing youth for young adulthood. Communicate with the program nurse and medical coordinator regarding residents’ health and medical needs. Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the facility, including common areas, bathrooms, bedrooms, and staff offices. Follow MAP requirements for administering, documenting, and reconciling residents’ medications, as required by certification. Ensure residents returning from AWOL receive appropriate medical clearance, including hospital accompaniment when necessary. Communicate important program information to the next shift and report immediate concerns to the appropriate on-call staff. Conduct and document room searches, fire drills, and other required safety procedures. Monitor resident community time documentation and participate in scheduled activities and outings as needed. Complete required trainings and maintain compliance with certifications. Perform hourly overnight checks on all residents, including body-in-bed checks, building security checks, and required documentation or telephone check-ins. Clean the facility and common areas during overnight shifts. Remain awake throughout the entire overnight shift. Sleeping or appearing to sleep while on duty is not permitted. Perform other related tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma required, along with previous experience working with youth or others in a residential setting. A bachelor’s degree or some college education is preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills are required. Must pass initial competency evaluations and participate in ongoing professional development and required trainings.

Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and be willing to use a personal vehicle when Centerboard vehicles are unavailable. Must demonstrate the ability to build healthy relationships and positive interactions with youth. Must participate in required Centerboard trainings, including CPR/First Aid, Trauma-Informed Care, Behavior Management, Medication Administration, HIPAA, OSHA, Ethics and Boundaries, and multicultural awareness and inclusion training.

Must demonstrate flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a changing environment. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing, walking, using stairs, driving, and participating in activities with youth.
