Job Description Summary Organization's Summary Statement: The Robert H. Smith School of Business seeks a Digital Content Specialist to manage and improve content across the school’s public website and intranet. This is a hands-on digital publishing and content-strategy position. The Digital Content Specialist will build and maintain pages in Drupal, manage incoming website requests, advise colleagues on effective ways to present information online and ensure that published content is accurate, accessible, well organized and optimized for search and AI-assisted discovery.
A major focus of the position will be the creation and ongoing improvement of academic programs and graduate admissions webpages. The Digital Content Specialist will turn approved copy and source materials into effective webpages using the components available within Smith’s Drupal design system. This work requires more than placing text on a page: the manager will determine appropriate content hierarchy, page structure, visual treatment, calls to action and relationships among pages.
The position also maintains faculty and staff profiles, events, news, institutional stories, centers and initiatives, downloadable materials and other recurring content. Additional responsibilities include first-line website troubleshooting, form and integration testing, analytics support and email journey building and updates in Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
This is primarily an individual-contributor role and does not require software development. The Digital Content Specialist will work closely with other members of the web, marketing, communications, design, admissions, and IT teams and will escalate specialized design or development needs to the appropriate colleagues.
Physical Demands: Ability to lift ten lbs Preferences: At least three (3) years of professional experience managing content for websites or other complex digital platforms, information architecture, and user-centered writing. Experience with Drupal, HTML, CSS, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud, particularly journeys and lifecycle communications.
Understanding of everyday web accessibility practices, including headings, links, alternative text, tables, documents, and embedded content. Working knowledge of SEO and AEO principles and content practices that improve online discovery. Experience building academic program- or conversion-oriented landing pages. Licenses/ Certifications: N/A Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in related field. Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Knowledge of organizational principles and time management practices. Skill in project management, including planning, coordinating, tracking progress, and ensuring successful completion of initiatives within established timelines.
Skill in verbal and written communication to clearly convey information, prepare correspondence, and interact effectively with diverse stakeholders. Ability to analyze complex information, identify issues, and evaluate options. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail.
