Day Camp Counselor

Position: Winter Day Camp Counselor Wage: $17.13 to $17.13 per hour ( Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range ) Hours: Seasonal, Up to 40 hours per week Dates of Employment: December 21-23, 28-30 Location: Tom Taylor Family YMCA, Gig Harbor, WA As a Winter Day Camp Counselor, you will get to know a small group of campers and supervise them through a range of fun activities such as swimming, playing games, participating in sports, and learning arts and crafts all while keeping them safe.

Qualifications

Six months or more of related experience (preferred). Positive attitude and previous experience with children and diverse populations Knowledge and skills in day camp program activities and related equipment set-up, and the ability to instruct participants in age-appropriate techniques Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment. Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, lead, and assist group activities, transitions, time fillers, and songs. Complete group head counts. Provide parent communication through parent communication cards. Complete accident and incident reports when necessary. Cleaning and sanitation protocols will be required of all staff.
