• AngloGold Ashanti Senior Specialist, GeoMetallurgy Role Overview What a mine knows about its ore decides how well its plant can perform. As our Senior Specialist, GeoMetallurgy you will connect geology, mineralogy and processing so our operations can plan better, run smarter and solve problems faster. You will work across all our operations and selected projects, supporting the Principal of Geometallurgy and advising site leaders. If you want to put your technical depth to work on a global stage, and be heard by people who make big decisions, this is a great role. Geometallurgy simply means linking what the rock is made of with how it behaves in the plant. You will help sites and projects around the world use that understanding to make better decisions. You will report to the Principal of Geometallurgy, work with sites and projects across our operations and see your advice turned into plans that change how plants run. It is a role for someone who enjoys both the science and the business side of mining.

Key Responsibilities

Provide specialist geometallurgy and mineralogy support to business units and projects around the world. Bring ore knowledge into business planning, optimisation and troubleshooting. Support governance of geometallurgy and mineralogy practices. Give expert advice and input to business units and other functions. Contribute expert input to asset improvement opportunities, from first idea to delivery.

Build and maintain relationships with vendors, equipment makers, universities and research institutions. Work as an active member of the technical team, sharing knowledge and learning from peers. Model and promote safe working and support incident investigations when needed. Help sites troubleshoot plant performance using mineralogy and ore knowledge.

Help keep geometallurgy practices consistent and well governed across our operations. Work with general managers and business unit leaders so that technical advice turns into action. Required Qualifications A degree in geology, geometallurgy, metallurgical engineering, process engineering, chemical engineering or a related field.

At least 8 years of relevant experience in the mining industry. A sound practical understanding of the full mining value chain, including geology, mining, geotechnical, metallurgy, engineering, tailings and projects. Willingness to travel extensively on business. Advantageous: a strong background in production and management, and a track record in business improvement and change management.

Skills and Competencies Technical depth in geometallurgy and mineralogy, and how they shape plant performance. The ability to take a three-year view while managing several priorities at once. Strong strategic and analytical thinking. Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills. Good judgement in organising work and setting priorities on your own.

Well-developed industry networks. High energy, high standards and a willingness to take a well-reasoned stand on important matters. Strong ability to lead and work well with people, including high-performing professional teams. Behaviour that reflects our values and purpose. Comfort working with partners outside the company, such as universities and equipment suppliers.

Work Environment and Expectations You will work with sites and projects across our global operations, with extensive business travel. Mine sites and plants are safety-sensitive environments. You will model our safety values and follow site rules at all times. You will work with industry bodies, universities and equipment suppliers to bring new ideas into the business.

You will work with general managers, business unit leaders and the wider technical team.
