High School Basketball Boys Head Coach and Assistant JV Coaches

High School Coaching Job Description Boy's and Girl's Basketball Head Varsity and Assistant Junior Varsity Coaches 2026-2027 Grand Canyon Unified School District #4 seeks qualified persons interested in a High School Head and Assistant/JV Coaching positions here at the beautiful Grand Canyon National Park. This position will run from November to February of the 2026-2027 school year.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Hold a valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
2. Coaching experience preferred
3. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and school personnel
4. Ability to motivate students and get them excited about basketball
5. At least 21 years of age REPORTS TO: Athletic Director JOB GOAL: To provide sound coaching in basketball to high school athletes PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Follows the requirements from the Arizona Interscholastic Association: Sign and abide by the GCUSD Coaches Handbook Complete Concussions in Sport Training Complete the Fundamentals of Coaches Training Varsity Coaches must have current CPR/AED/ First Aid training card Valid Az Teaching Certificate or Coaches Certificate, or completed the National Federation of State High School Associations Level 1 Certification training within 45 days from date of hire. Meets with high school students daily from 4:00 to 6:00 to coach Must be able to travel on the team bus with students to away games Communicates on a regular basis with the Athletic Director Communicates effectively with students and parents Plans and uses appropriate instructional/coaching strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned Presents a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities Exhibit professional judgment and responsibility at all times Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible Follow all rules, regulations, and board policies approved by the Governing board and follow directives from superiors The administration has the right to add or change duties at any time Utilizes the team "Slack" channel for all athlete/parent communications TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: November until February, 4 Day work week plus weekend games COMPENSATION: $3,100.00 for Head Coach $2,500.00 for Assistant /JV Coach APPLICATION: Applications available on the school web page at www.grandcanyonschool.org under employment vacancies.
