Special Ed. Aide/Paraprofessional

General Role and Responsibilities: To assist the teacher, achieve teaching Objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole. General Skills and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (Special Ed. Aide)
• Prior job experience preferred
• Meet requirements to be highly qualified (Special Ed. Paraprofessional
• Associates degree, 60 college credits or pass the Indiana Praxis test) Specific Responsibilities in This Position:
• To work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher
• To assist the teacher in reinforcing materials or skills based on the understanding of individual students, their NEEDS, interest and abilities
• Will help student’s master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teach to provide on-going skill development
• To guide independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher
• To assist with the supervision of students
• To participate in in-service training programs as assigned
• To maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of all staff Specific Skills and Knowledge for this position: Qualifications and Education Requirements: Personal Attributes Desired:
