Garden Grounds Student Worker

• Wilmore, KY, Position Type: Student, Salary Range: Undisclosed, POSITION SUMMARY: The Garden Grounds Student Worker serves as a hands-on garden maintenance worker and garden caretaker. This position helps to ensure that Asbury Seminary’s community garden is well cared for and inviting for community members and visitors and also helps to assist with garden events and seasonal needs. Ultimately, this individual supports the growth and development of our seminary community in the garden.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Oversee Greenhouse operations: open and close greenhouse, weed and water greenhouse plots, maintain any other greenhouse needs and structures Care for Garden Plots: weed and water community garden plots, water and trim garden fruit trees, weed and maintain Kentucky native plots Care for Paths and Fire Pit: spray and weed gravel areas Mow Garden Lawn Other duties as specified Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES, MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A current student of Asbury Theological Seminary Able and willing to work 20 hours weekly Willing to work outdoors in the heat of summer and the cold of winter Able to push or carry heavy loads Committed to the mission statements of Asbury Seminary and the community garden PREFERRED Experience Experience in farming or gardening A passion to care for God’s creation Flexibility of schedule and approach
