About the Role

An excellent opportunity exists for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Rockhampton office and work in a multi-disciplinary, professional environment driven by excellence and experienced in successful practical and innovative engineering applications. Working closely with the Project Manager, you will help manage fieldwork, supervise the drilling team and ensure projects are delivered safely and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct and conduct survey and field investigation work to analyse the likely behaviour of soil and rock when placed under pressure by proposed structures
  • Design above and below ground foundations based on geotechnical investigation findings
  • Investigate site conditions and assess the engineering properties of soil and rock
  • Carry out in-situ field testing, sampling and logging of soil and rock at project sites
  • Conduct field analysis and prepare technical reports on investigation results
  • Supervise and work alongside the drilling team to ensure field data is accurately collected
  • Monitor site activities and ground conditions throughout fieldwork
  • Travel to multiple job sites across the region to undertake site investigations
  • Ensure all fieldwork is conducted safely and to a high standard of quality
  • Complete required safety and quality documentation on site and submit it as necessary Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability when interpreting ground conditions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in field data collection and reporting
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team and collaborative environment
  • Adaptability and resilience when working in varied site and weather conditions
  • Sound time management and the ability to prioritise across multiple site commitments
  • A safety-conscious mindset and commitment to quality Experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in the geotechnical field, demonstrating practical application of knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience in fieldwork and site supervision
  • Experience preparing field analysis and reports
  • Experience working with clients and project teams Qualifications
