Medical Assistant I (PRN)

Job Description – Medical Assistant II (PRN) Location- Springhill, FL General Description The Medical Assistant I provides clinical and administrative support across multiple service lines, including Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Behavioral Health, Women’s Health, and Laboratory services. This role ensures smooth patient flow, accurate data collection, and high-quality care delivery.

Medical Assistants contribute to a positive patient experience by assisting providers with examinations, procedures, and clinical tasks while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment.

Essential Duties

& Responsibilities

• Room patients, obtain vitals, collect medical histories, and prepare them for provider visits
• Assist providers during exams and procedures across departments
• Accurately document patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
• Clean and disinfect exam rooms and manage room inventory
• Process instruments, including use of autoclave
• Collect, label, and prepare lab specimens for testing
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and care teams
• Assist with scheduling, referrals, and patient inquiries when needed
• Collaborate with clinical leads and peers to improve workflows and meet performance goals
• Support quality improvement, compliance activities, and community engagement
• Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA
• Perform additional duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and maintain accuracy
• Basic knowledge of clinical procedures and medical terminology
• Ability to build rapport with patients of diverse backgrounds
• Comfort working across multiple service lines
• Proficiency in or willingness to learn EHR systems (Epic preferred)
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Certified or Registered MA
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Demonstrated strong clinical skills or two (2) years’ experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Strongly prefer one (1) year in a Community Health Care facility
• Obtain and maintain Epic certification/ annual compliance throughout employment
• Obtain and maintain Annual Skills Competencies. Bonus / Preferred Skills:
• Experience with vaccine administration or lab draws
• Familiarity with multiple disciplines (Family Medicine, Behavioral Health, OB/Women’s Health) Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift 20 lbs. regularly and up to 30–50 lbs. occasionally
• Sit for extended periods and frequent use of computer systems
• Travel between clinic locations as needed
